iOS app inferior to Android app in all ways

I go both ways, I'll just put that up front. I have no preference Android vs. iOS, they each have their advantages. In the pogoplug world, scrap the iOS app! Yes, it backs up your pictures and movies (although it turns the movies sideways) but it won't let you watch ANYTHING. The hilarious option to "Open in..." sounds like it would be great to open the file in Oplayer or any other movie player that will play MKV and DivX just fine... But, no, it then takes you to a screen where you wait forever for a download bar to run across the screen. Why no "Open in..." Android, you click on the movie file, it opens up MXplayer, and you're good to go! I'm sure this has something to do with Apple's rediculous rules in cross-app connectivity, but the Andoid sure makes the pogoplug a much more useful tool. Anyone found a way to watch your divX files on iOS, other than setting up your own separate media server?

All my Video files are sorted by month!

Hello, I am new to this forum and hope you probably can assist me with my issue, because it seems the official Pogoplug support doesn´t reply to my request. I have a Pogoplug Pro and a single hard drive attached to it, which contains all my video files I converted myself using handbrake. These are Apple friendly .m4v files compatible with ipad and iphone. If I click on the Videos Tab in the Pogoplug App on my iDevices my Movies won´t show up. Instead I get a list from January to December and my movies are spread all over this list according to their creation date. Now I wonder if this is normal behavior and if I can change it somehow, because it is really annoying to have that kind of assortment of my movies. Can it be just simple by their names? Any suggestions are very welcome. Thank you
[Read more]

Automatic Upload?

My apologies if the answer to my question has already been addressed. I did a lot of searching but could not find an answer. With regard to Android and iOS devices, is the automatic upload/backup feature only available when using the Mobile and/or V4 hardware or is it possible on any other hardware? Specifically, Best Buy has the POGO-P21 model available for $45 right now. If it is capable of the automatic upload feature, I would prefer it for the multiple USB ports and price over the Mobile version or the V4. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Pogoplug, Itunes, Playlists and Audiotap

Hi Guys, I could no longer deal with how the pogoplug organized and accessed my music. using the pogoplug app the media didn't organize playlist or the music to my satisfaction. I wanted to be able to organize playlist and rate songs. Being able to access the songs off sight was cool but frustrating if you don't know what song you are choosing because the pogoplug doesn't read the file if it has too many letters in the title structure of the song on your drive. So I found a solution. AUDIOTAP. You install their s/w on your pc launch Itunes, download Audiotap ($3.99) on your smart phone and your in business. it works great locally and away from the home. Does all that I pretty much want it to. I have my external drive connected to the pogoplug, I have Itunes launched on the PC and have all the songs mapped to the pogoplug. I have over 250 GB of music on my little 8GB phone. Its pretty awesome. Downside is you do have to leave your PC on with Itunes launched and open. small price to pay if you ask me. thanks....ED
[Read more]

streaming widescreen videos...

Hi, i believe my iPad2 is 3:4 screen ratio. All the family videos I take with my phone are widescreen. When they get uploaded to pogoplug and i try to watch them on the ipad, they get stretched and it's horrible. Is there a way to fix this? Also one of the media setting was previously set to "optimize" but that produces such a low quality/bitrate version of the video. is there a way to "unoptimize" it? I've already changed the media setting to "Never" optimize, but the video stayed the same = stretched and pixelly. I really want this to be able to work because I'm honestly disappointed with the iPad compared my android devices. it doesn't understand many video formats. everything has to go through itunes and hardware cable. it's just so restricting. at least if pogoplug worked, it would be like a little breath of fresh air..

When I try to upload my camera roll from my iPhone 4S to a Dockstar using the iPhone app and it takes forever to upload each image. It literally sits at 0% for about 3 minutes before it even starts to upload. Once it starts uploading it's very quick and then sits at 100% for another 3 minutes and start the whole process again for the next file. So it takes at least 5 to 10 minutes per photo which is rediculous. What's odd, is that this only happens when I'm home. When I upload over 3G or via a WiFi hotspot, it's fairly quick. I thought maybe my Dockstar was the problem so I got a Pogoplug V4 and it has the same problem. Any ideas on what's wrong?

I have a PogoPlug Biz. I have another user setup to see a folder on the Biz. This user logs in, and collaborates a folder to me as 'User' permissions. I log in as myself on my iPad, view PDF's perfectly. I log in as the user on their iPad, they tap the PDF and it will not open. When trying to open in DocstoGo or Adobe Reader on the iPad, it says the file size is zero. Once again, I log on as myself, and it works perfectly. Hardware: iPad II with latest OS. Another test: I also have an iPad I with the latest OS, and log on as the user, it works perfectly fine. So it only seems to be an issue with the collaborator on the iPad II.

After indexing all my music, I can't play some songs on the iPhone app. They are MP3s -- some are 320kbps, some are VBR. All stuff the iPhone should be able to handle. I e-mailed myself one of the files and played it via an e-mail attachment in gmail. The quicktime played it without any issues. The web player plays it fine, but of course that doesn't work on the iPhone and would be ridiculous to try and use anyways. Does someone know what the issue is here or why Pogoplug app doesn't seem to support some MP3 files? It's a pretty cool device but I don't want to have to deal with hit or miss functionality for my music library when the files are standard MP3s.

Can iPhone apps change the camera roll destination to my Buffalo cloudstation? I have check that my Buffalo cloudstation is "online" & I can upload file to it one by one. However, I cannot see any destination other than "Pogoplug Cloud". May I can upload the mutipule files (photos) by single action? e.g. can change the camera roll destination to my device? Thanks for your support.
android app suggestions

Hi, I really like the new feature in the app which auto-syncs my photos/videos (under /sdcard/DCIM recursively) to the pogoplug. Here are some suggesions for improvement. 1. the option to specify a specific wifi SSID on which to sync with. with this I would be able to sync only when I am on my home network which is usually what I prefer. 2. the option to specify additional folders to monitor. I use eye-fi and by default, eye-fi stores images/videos under /sdcard/Eye-Fi which is not scanned by the pogoplug app. 3. the option to specify a file size limit on what gets sync'ed. i took a couple of minutes of video on HD and it ended up being over 100MB. I'd rather not sync that over the air. I think you guys should really get the word out on the new mobile features of the app. you should have an android blog (androidcentral, androidguys, droidlife, etc) do a review with the new photo sync stuff.

Limit to Number of Folders within a Folder?

I'm still using the Android App Version 4.0.7.17 and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a limit to the number of folders allowedwithin one folder. The reason I ask is that I have a folder for my Music and 343 separate folders withing that one music folder. However, on that Android App, I can only see 312 folders. On both the Pogoplug Software on my PC and via the web, ALL folders are there. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please? I have tried refreshing the app and logging out and back in again, but error is still there. Thanks for any advice and Happy New Year to you all.
