HELP - I deleted a folder by mistake

I deleted a folder by mistake via the Pogoplug web interface. Since Pogoplug does not have any recycle bin feature, I connected the hard drive to my computer directly and tried to use some Undelete softwares I tried a a few undelete/restore softwares but none of them was able to find this folder. The undelete/restore softwares was able to find files and folders i deleted several months ago but was unable to find this folder. What do I do? My understanding was Pogoplug deletes the folder normally like a windows Shift + Del (Since they dont have a recycle bin option). If such is the case, I would have been able to recover the folders. Anyone have any suggestions?

I undertstand I can transcode files myself but where do I store them once transcoded? I only want transcoded videos for web access, I want original ones still be in place since they are used on LAN in original high quality format.

My questions are: How well does the PogoPlug handle large, 1-100 Gig, files? How does the PogoPlug handle file access? Are files accessed in bulk (like FTP) or on a sector-by-sector basis (like a NAS)? Background: I'm planning to use my PogoPlug as a way to keep my home computers -- PC, Mac and Ubuntu Linux -- backed up and their files synchronized, but I am uncomfortable with relying on https and PogoPlug to keep my PogoPlug Internet-accessible files secure. Much of the stuff on our drives I don't worry about: application, audio/video/image files and the like, but we already have other files, such as our financial, family documents, personal correspondence, and development files encrypted using TrueCrypts. TrueCrypt is a tool that mounts virtual volumes where the data is stored in encrypted data files called Crypts; our Fiancial files, for example are stored in a 1 Gig data file crypts, and family documents (like scanned copies of insurance policy paperwork and such) in a second, 10 gig crypt. Each user on our LAN also has a 100 gig personal space (Windows users might call this their user Documents and Settings folder.) If the PogoPlug doesn't handle gigabyte-plus files competently or...

Ok I know there are other ways to hook a computer's internal hard drives to the internet but I'm appealed by the simplicity and UI of the Pogoplug system. The thing is that I dont need an external hard drive, I already have my files on my main desktop but I would love to access it from anywhere like a Pogoplugged external hard drive. Is there anyway or plans for the future to make the pogoplug service availlable to share internal hard drives in a cloud way too? Afterall it's already connected to the net and the a/c it would only need a small software to run in the background.

TCP/IP Security?

This is kind of a basic question but when I am away from the local network security comes into play. I have the pogoplug client on my device and they work great, my question is though when I copy files to the plug, does it use any kind of encryption while the files in transit across the cloud? I mean, I could create an SSL tunnel back to my LAN and use my pogoplug as if on the LAN but that creates another layer of headache. I'm hoping pogoplug client internet protocol was using some flavor of encryption.

I have installed openpogo on a usb flash with no problem. Unfortunately it does not hold up when I am running Firefly music server. The usb flash drive goes down because it is not fast enough to stream the music. I would like to install Openpogo on a usb external hard drive. It is 500 gig drive and I partitioned it for 50 megs. I followed the procedure for installing openpogo on usb. I formatted it for Linux and it shows up as such. I installed the Openpogo just fine. When I try and run the ipkg update, it doesn't run. I get an error saying, it can't find it. I checked the path and it shows up correctly. I am not sure if I can do this on a large drive or what the problem is. Can someone please help? Thanks Scot

I just found out about Pogoplug and it seem to be the answer to a lot of my requirements. So ordered from Amazon.co.uk last night and also a Seagate usb 2.5 ext HDD. I then found this forum and was a little bit disappointed to see so many people complaining about bugs regarding Trans-coding and audio syncing. If anyone can answer a few questions for me here I would appreciate the help. 1) If the Pogoplug is slow trans-coding could it be converted on a desktop to whatever the Pogoplug uses thus making it quicker? 2) Is or has the Audio syncing problem already been or soon to be resolved with a patch? 3) Do video streams judder? I have 50mb Virgin Broadband and my sister who would also share stuff has Sky 2mb or 4mb, so would that be OK? 4) I have a Nokia 5800, will that work with Pogoplug? 5) My wife has a Samsung Jet will that work? 6) I read a few threads where the guys were saying about HDDs in sleep mode having problems? The Seagate I have purchase like most has an energy saving feature. Is that going to give me problems or...

Anyone have any issues with their PS3 getting network connection error in the middle of playing a long set of songs from their DockStar or PogoPlug? I can't seem to get more than an hour of music streamed from my DockStar to my PS3 before the playlist stops and the PS3 reports a network error. I'm hard-wired into my router (Motorola WR850G) on the PS3 and have no problems watching hour-long MP4s from the DockStar on the PS3 and no problems playing through all my music on my computer using WFS and Windows Media Player. I tried hitting the reset button and that didn't solve the problem.

I heard that Cloud Engines recently announced printer support coming soon to all Pogoplug devices. But I'm unsure about a few things. Firstly, will this be coming to my Seagate Dockstar? I'm assuming yes, since it's also a Pogoplug device. Secondly, will it be full print server support? I want to be able to print stuff from my laptop and desktop without having to use the Pogoplug web interface. I already transfer files to and from my Dockstar without the web interface (I do so as a network hard drive in Windows 7), will the print server work the same way? I was originally going to try and mod my Dockstar with something like Openpogo to be able to use it as a print server, but now with this recent announcment I think I'm gonna wait and see what happens. Thanks.
