using a hard drive connected to pogoplug

i have recently just bought a pogoplug and i have sucessfully set it up and i am excited about how useful this is going to be for me. i am essentially using it to share my hdd between my other computers and android tablet. i have connected a 2tb hdd to it and it works perfectly fine and its just 'organising' itself with the pogoplug web interface. I used to use the 2tb hdd as a mirrored drive (manually, no software involved) for another 2tb internal drive in my desktop. i still want them to essentially mirror each other, but now my 2tb external is connected to the pogoplug... Q: do i need to disconnect the 2tb external that is connected to the pogoplug to be able to add files to it or will dragging and dropping the files into the appropriate folders within the 'pogoplug browser' on my computer allow me to use it in the same way as before? i imagine this is the case, although the transfer speeds would be significantly slower as it would be via the network, rather than jacked in via USB directly to the computer. forgive me if this is a silly question,...

A windows copy of HDD is suffisant or not ? Thank's.

Usually "invisible" file/folder visible

With my Macs, I am using a Pogoplug series 4 with a USB 2.0 HD and while I am not experiencing any setup issues, all the usually invisible files and folders on this drive are conspicuosly visible in the "Pogoplug Uploader", the web interface, the desktop Pogoplug HD image, and on the iPhone mobie app. Needless to say this is a type of chaotic clutter I usually do not have to deal with using any of my Macs. Here is a screen capture of what I am seeing in the "Pogoplug Uploader" the usually "invisible" files/folders are circled in red. If you have a solution for removing the clutter it would be much appreciated. http://ppl.ug/aOTxffjOXwM/
[Read more]

drives wont recognize, after indexing of big 2tb wd elements drive

i had a samsung and a iomega drive, usb powered only, that both indexed, worked no prob. Now i added a 2tb wd elements drive with external power, that took days to index. After 10 days, came back from vacation, assumed indexing was over. Now none of the drives are recognized. Reset via, power down pogo, unplug drives, power up grey pogo (pro no wifi with v3.2.4,) plug drives back in, tell software to refresh for new drives...nothing. ideas? using a mac pro, recent laptop. cheers
[Read more]

WD TV Live 2

Anyone able to get network shared media drives to show up on a WDTV Live player? How is it done? The WDTV2L sees both PC and Macs on the network - but cannot see my shared HDDs. ************************************ We just got a brand new WDTV 2 Live and our live/active Dockstar's Samba share does NOT SHOW UP! Mac & PCs do, but no NAS/SMB. This same SMB share is working perfectly on the LAN with an AppleTV1 using XBMC., and can also stream to Macs, PCs, iPad and phones. What needs to be done to get the WDTV2L to wake up and see it? (Also keeping in mind the current Dockstar setup is working great for the AppleTV1/XBMC and need both to work). (I'm just hoping that once this is figured out - the WDTV2L will be able to play our very very large library of M4V/H.264 files without having to convert them to anything.)

v4 with a USM external drive

Recieved my Pogo v4 today. It works find with all types of USB based drives. I popped the end off my Seagate 500 GB external because it has the USM technology. I attached it to the Pogo's USM/SATA port and it fits perfectly. Only problem is the Pogo does not recognize the drive. When I reattached the USB dongle to the drive it works fine. I want the speed of the drive connected to the SATA port and not USB speed. Any ideas?
