I am seeing similar issues in the sync function in the new (4.0.4) uploader.
1. After I define the sync and click Finish, when I open the dialog again all of the destinations are set back to the root on the device.
2. I have as a test case a file in one directory that was updated on 2/7. After running sync multiple times and even letting it run overnight the version backed up is still older 2/10. I actually have no way to know that sync is doing on thing on this directory structure.
3. Re your #2 - I see plenty of network traffic.
4. Re your #3 - haven't seen this one.
5. What happened to the % complete that was in the old UI?
Anyone else having major issues with the uploader?
I was told by tech support (ticket #61902) that pogoplug has purposely removed functionality from the webui. No longer can remote access folders be used in a backup as the SOURCE folder. However, they are still allowed as a destination folder. The webui method has always worked until the last update. It allowed backing up folders on a computer to the pogoplug, from anywhere and could remain on in hte background. With 2 pogoplus in two locations, this was invaluable. Support now says that the only method now is by using the uploader.
I'm having three major problems with uploader. Probably all related...
1. I create the sync connections and start them. Close the setup box and immediately open the dialog box back up. Both the destination folder and the pogoplug device have randomly changed. No longer is the home computer backing up at home, but into the wrong drive on a different pogoplug at the office... .
2. This generates a lot of newtork traffic. HOwever, after 30 minutes, no files have actually been backed up. This could be a problem caused by #1, in that it isn't putting them where I said to. But I looked in random spot, even did a search of the whole pogoplug setup, and there are no new files.
3. Then when set up and running, if I close uploder, it says syncs are not complete and that that they will stop if I close the window. Active Syncs and Backups have always continues in the background.
This also means that you have to be on the computer you want syncs run from. The WebUi always allowed remote backup of remote access folders.
In my opinon, this is a pogoplug killer. For me it has always been a means of large file transfer and backups. If backups are no longer able to be completed remotely, after two years of success, it has become worthless to me. Why has it had to become fancy and complicated at the expense of actually functioning.
Same here, sometimes the destination defaults to ROOT. Sometimes to the wrong drive too! It sucks when you check the next day to find that ALOT of data has been SYNCED to the wrong location!!!!!
I have disabled sync, as my confidence in the POGOPLUG is dwindling....
Support ticket submitted.
Good morning guys,
Have you received any response from support on this sync issues with the new version? I'm also having problems.
7 weeks and no solutions. The new software does not allow the automatically suppied backup setting for My Documents, etc to have the path changed.
7 weeks , no backups, makes me nervous. Time for start looking for another solution....?
You could add the folder you do want backed up and turn off the one hard coded for My Documents if not needed.
I'd like to add that the old 'backup' would show the curent files being backed up, where this version does not.
