You can add me to the same category. The above post is mine down to the T.
Even if you get stuff on the USB HDDs the catalogue keeps getting screwed up. Not once have I had the Music listing give me the correct mp3 tag info, windows media player or any other mp3 player even the one on my phone displays better mp3 tag info. Photo's well what a load of "3$%%^^& that all I got to say. Picasa/Flickr over to you. Video's again what a load of "?$%^*( My DLNA server can stream these better. In all pogoplug was ?70 down the drain. Ho and I am using pogoplug on a 10mb leased line in work and it's still crap.
I really looked forward to using my pogoplug device. I did. I got a bit excited and didn't read all of the instructions, so I didn't realize that I had to pay extra for streaming. OK. Fine. Did that.
But it sucks. Totally sucks. Running the uploader in the background makes my system grind to almost a halt. Syncing? Please. It took all day to sync just a few files from My Documents. If I try to stream I only hear every other note of a song. Can't even begin to tell you how bad it is trying to stream video. So all in all I've wasted about $60 and hours of my time trying to get this thing to function. I wish I had read this forum before I bought the device. I never would have done it.
Has anyone had a similar experience and then discovered that they were doing something wrong? If it is user error on my part I'm not too proud to admit that I screwed up and I'll be happy to fix what I've done wrong and start over. Oh yeah...I even uninstalled the whole thing and started over. Twice.
For now I'm going to rely on the Amazon Cloud for storage and streaming music. It works on all of my devices and doesn't require any quirky hardware or software. I wanted to have my own cloud, but that's life. Hopefully someone will invent something affordable that will actually work.
Pogoplug has gone downhill. I don't care about streaming or media services. I just want an easy networked attached drive for storage, backup and remote access. Pogoplug once met that need. Now it can't do any of those things well. Each version of the client software is more buggy and bloated.
