I have a Cloudstor Pro using Pogoplug. What are the differences between the two as far as proccessing power?
Is the Pogoplug Series 4 a step up?  Pros, Cons?  Thanks.

According to the CloudStor website, the CS Pro has a 1.6GHz processor and 256MB of DDR3 memory. I believe those specs are better than what the Series 4 has. Are you not impressed with the performance of your CloudStor Pro? I was considering getting one in the next few weeks with the hopes that the performance would surpass what I experience currently.

Here's the CSPro specs: http://www.buffalocloudstor.com/products/

I'm happy with my CS Pro now. I use it to stream videos to my devices. I do the video conversions using a 3rd party program and then send them to the CS Pro. The Pogoplug software always wants to "optimize" futher. If I do they don't look good. I just select "watch original" and they look great. Sometimes the playback has to be restarted if the wi-fi is not up to nuff.

For me you have already the best pogo plug device out there.
cloudstor pro is the most powerful product using pogo plug right now.
plus, it supports samba and time machine. something that people with the pogo plug has been dreaming about.

the new series 4 is in fact a V2 pogo plug with the usb 3 and SATA connectors, thats all...

even then pogo plug pro and V3 is more powerful than the new 4 series.

cheers.

Thanks for the input Bopper and Gerardo. I will definitely be considering the CloudStor Pro...

Bopper, i recomend u to use the uploader to do the transcoding process when you move the movie files to the cloudstor. in that way is your computer the one who do the heavy process and paste both files in the cloudstor (original and transcoded) and at the same time the cloudstor knows is already transcoded and it doesn't do the process again.

Or if you do the transcode manually with some other program, in that case in media settings turn off the transcoding process (because you already did it) if you don't do this, then is completely logical that the transcode that the pogo did with your "already transcoded" file is going to be worst cuz is being created from a file with lower quality who was already created by you.

Actually I didn't like the quality of the Pogoplug transcoded files. Also it takes forever to transcode them. Much easier to make my m4v files and then upload them using Pogoplug. I have set Pogoplug settings to never transcode but for some reason it still attempts to transcode. I have to cancel the transcode each time.
