Hi! I have a ping pogoplug device with a USB harddrive connected. Everything works fine, except that some of the movies stored on it plays upside down! This is regardless if they are transcoded and shown in the web-browser or downloaded to the PC and played with Windows Media Player. On my Mac (where the movies were gotten off the camera) everything plays as it should. What's going on here and how can I get it right?

Hm, I've never heard of this issue reported on the forums before, and it's definitely a strange one! I'd send in a support ticket to Pogoplug to see what they think.

I did and they came back asking a few questions that I answered. Then they came back again saying that they were indeed able to reproduce my problem and that they are working to fix it! That's good customer support!

I hate to say this, but is it possible that you held the camera upside down for those videos?

Well your question is not so stupid, because the camera in question is an iPhone 4S and it can be held in two ways. Either way the movie plays back as it should when getting the movie off the memory and into the Mac, I guess it is because the direction the phone was held is recorded somehow in the file. Maybe it is this information that the Pogoplug rendering software is not looking at?

That would be my thought. If you skip the pogo and copy the file to your PC, is it right side up?

All of my videos taken with the phone upright instead of on it's side are sideways when we look at them on the pogo...

Yes, when the movie is watched on the Mac (I don't use a PC at home), the movie is displayed as it should. Note I am talking about a 180 degree difference in how to hold the iPhone. Not 90 degrees.

Hey guys,

I am having the same problem when I upload iphone 4S videos using the pogoplug uploader. Upright videos are rotated 90 degrees when viewed from the my.pogoplug.com website. Was wondering why the pogoplug software does this? Any thoughts??
