Well that's strange; the FAQ's on this very website state that AVI files ARE supported:

Per PogoPlug Customer Support, "Please note that the .avi media files are not supported on Pogoplug". I am very confused by this because I have shared an AVI file found on my PP enabled device and there were no issues. Last night I tried to share a file from my desktop NOT a pogoplug device and the person I shared it with was not able to play the file, however they could download the file. When I queried further with PP support on this behavior they responded,
"Be it either Pogoplug device or computer installed with Pogoplug software, transcoding of files should take place according to 'Media Settings' configuration at the webUI (webUI ==> Settings ==> Media Settings)".
"However, you should expect this to act this way only for supported media file types, which is not the case regarding .avi in particular".
I guess it is time for me to give up on PogoPlug as it should not be this difficult to share a file yet alone an AVI file, however it would be nice if I could find someone knowledeable on the PP software specifically AVI files so I can be fully informed prior to moving onto some other product.

It says "AVI with motion" so if the AVI file has sound will PP not support this type of file..
Here is an AVI video that's on my Pogoplug (Hangover 2 trailer): http://ppl.ug/7r5xQXbnDk4/ I disconnected from my LAN to make sure it could be played. Granted the video quality is bad, but it does play (using Ubuntu/Firefox; wouldn't play in Ubuntu/Chromium) in the web browser.

Interesting..I wonder if I am doing anything wrong..Below are my steps
Right click on a video file
Click on "Send To" and then "Pogoplug Share"
It eventually prompts
me for an email address, etc. but the video does not play in a browser window once I click on the link
Note my media settings all have "Always". The Xbox/PS3 option are disabled since I do not have an Xbox or PS3
The only thing I can think of is to try it in another browser. On my Ubuntu laptop, Chromium doesn't stream the videos, but Firefox does. In a Windows XP virtual machine that I'm running, Firefox does not stream the video, but IE does. Kinda hit-or-miss. I would reply back to support and ask them to explain this and explain why the FAQ page alludes that AVI files are compatible. If that information isn't correct, they should remove it from the page.
I just tried an mpg file and the same behavior in Chrome and IE..I am waiting to hear back from PP support
Hey PogoPluugers..per Pogoplug support there engineers have reproduced the issue (MPG file and AVI files not playying when a share is done from the desktop with the premium software) and will get back to me at a future time...
