OK so the 4 is running slower than my Pro.

Also, I can't even stream a MP4 video on my home network much less accross the internet.

I'm starting to think this one wasn't even worth the discount.

Send an email to support@pogoplug.com and let them know the issues you're having. I'm able to stream mp4 video files perfectly fine on my network with the same model that you have.

I already emailed the techs and Christopher. No word back yet.

Also, it takes two to three minutes for the files to show up on my computer. It clocks everytime I try to see the files. I have a Pro and it opens the files pictures or videos right away. I have done all the steps to my sata drive and stilll nothing. Also does this with my USB thumbdrive and USB ext drives.
I have all gigabit connections and have even run my Pro wireless without any issues.

JJ I'm glad your 4 works for you. I post here due to getting a quicker reply from Christopher or one of the Pogoplug techs.
So as of now the 4 is worth nothing to me. I can't use it.

So after talking with Christopher at Pogoplug today I am still with a useless Pogoplug 4. All he did was open another help desk ticket. And change the name of my Pogoplug? I still can not stream video and getting to files takes way too long. Also, the Pogoplug browser is way to slow when trying to move files. I gave up and plugged my SATA drive into an eSATA port and the other drive from my Pogoplug Pro to a USB.
Now I am suppose to watch a streaming video while capturing data from the Pogoplug? Also my Pogoplug 4 was 2 versions behind of the correct firmware. The thing just got released.

What are the differences between the series 4 and the original Pogoplug? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the upgrade but the pogoplug website doesn't really say what's so great about this new version.

@ John H - It's got 2 USB 3.0 ports and a SATA port so connectivity-wise, it's an upgrade. As far as the ram and processor, I'm not sure what the differences between the older model and this one are...been trying to get a straight answer about that for a few days now...

Just tried a video on my older Pro. Took 16 seconds to start and no stutter. The 4 too 21 seconds and stutters on the video.

Here is some under the hood info from the guys over at Archlinux|Arm.  Looks like it's got a slower processor and less memory.

We do so much :P

@WarheadsSE - So after looking over all that information on the Archlinux pages, it seems to me as though, hardware-speaking only, the Pogoplug Pro is the best device that CE has released, correct?

December 21, 2011 2:46 PM

Essentially, it was the most progressive.

December 21, 2011 3:00 PM

Okay thanks for clarifying!

Pogoplug Pro and Pogoplug V3 (P21).

In resume, if u want the best pogo plug is to get those ones, to open the pogo and to get a data to esata cable, and connect it to a eSata Harddrive.

That would give you the best results within in all the pogo plug options available.

Over all simplest to use & understand, if you can get your hands on them, are the GoFlex Net. Not quite as performance as the oxnas based ones (P01, P21, P25, B01/2/3/4) but easier to get to the SATA, and includes WFS.
