I am new to linux but have been doing some reading and would like to get a build of linux installed that i could use plex media server with so i can always have my movies available on more devices than what it natively supports. the issue i am running into is i dont want to completely remove the pogoplug functionality, because of this i decide to go with opt ware but it doesnt seem like there is a real clear step by step for noobs.

for instance today i tried using a tuorial i found here but after i downloaded the mke2fs.zip and trie to unzip it i got a "unzip: not found" error. i know this is a basic linux thing but i cant figure it out.    If i am asking too much please tell me or tell me if i should just use the tutorial from lifehacker to turn it into a linux web server. thanks

Is Plex releasing ARM binary blobs now?

Not sure what you are asking

ARM and x86 are not compatible. Plex is closed source, and so far as the community knows, are not releasing their program in ARM compatible "binary blobs" aka, exe's & drivers.

Also, that article is a tad out of date. Which model do you have?

I have a Pogoplug pro that I bought directly from cloud storage. I saw something about installing plex on a headless server running debian.

Yeah i know that article is out of date but I was looking for something that would step me through everything.

I would preferably like to retain the stock functionality while still being able to stream through dlna. But ideally i would like to use plex so i can stream to my phone, tv, roku etc..
Thanks for the help

The problem here is the CPU architectures are not compatible: http://www.plexapp.com/linux/linux-pms-download.php

So what other options do I have for using my pogoplug as a media server? I eventually will either have a google TV or HTPC (havent decided yet which). Ideally Cloudengines would make an app for google tv but I dont see that happening.

Google TV runs Android.. so..

Sorry I meant an app for google TV specifically for streaming media that gives it a better UI and shows more metadata similar to plex.
