I'm using the latest public version OS X Lion with the Pogoplug software 3.1.1 (3.1.0.67) with a Pgogplug Pro and it seems extremely unreliable.

I've tried different disk formats (ext3 & NTFS), rebooting the pogoplug, pretty much everything I can think of and the problem persists.

What happens is when I drag files from a local disk to the PogoPlug mapped drive the file copying animation starts and then files sometimes just dissapear and don't end up on the pogoplug. The copy goes through the stages of the progress bar filling and then ending, but the files never appear in the pogoplug drive folder.

During the failure the console log fills up with;

Dec 12 09:07:27 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:27 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Seagate Desktop has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0Dec 12 09:07:44 macpro fseventsd[17]: scan_old: bailing out because device mounted @ /Volumes/Pogoplug Cloud has dls 0x0 and dls->fci 0x0

So is the pogoplug pro really this unreliable on a Mac? If so it would explain why they're currently being sold off cheap by the PC world chain in the UK :(

Hi alsutton,

This is Christopher, head of Customer Outreach here at Pogoplug.

From this output it looks like the issues with copying using Pogoplug Software has nothing to do with your Pogoplug Pro. (Note all the references to Pogoplug Cloud)

I'm not saying there isn't an issue here.

If you haven't already, please contact Support. Sign In to my.pogoplug.com and 'Submit a support ticket' using 'Help Center'. As an isolation, they may want to disable your Pogoplug Cloud.

Kindest Regards,
Christopher Louie
on behalf of the Pogoplug team

Hi Chris,

The problem started before PogoPlug cloud was made public. The log messages are the only PogoPlug related messages I could see.

I'll raise a support ticket, but I've started to move stuff to an alternative solution so I may not be able to provide much more information.

Chris,

After a brief exchange with you're support guys we're ditching the PogoPlug on the basis of their lack of knowledge.

After telling the support representative twice I was on a Mac he then told me to exclude a set of Windows files from my firewall A/V :(.

He then started asking whether we have a proxy in place. That's irrelevant because we're more likely to ditch the pogoplug than any proxy that's in place.

It's a shame because the product had a reasonable amount of promise, but as it is it looks unusable.

Al.

P.S. If you want to check the ticket it's 54780

Hi alsutton,

Thanks for the update.

We'll confer with Support about this.

I have the same problem, also mac os lion latest, same version of the software

I don't know if macfuse can be a problem (I have version v2.2.1 Tuxera)?

FYI it worked previously, so it's not a drive/firewall issue

Hi Guys,

This issue should be resolved with the latest update of Pogoplug software; it primarily affected Lion users, but users on other OSes may have experienced the problem as well to a lesser degree. This fix should solve the problem for users on all OSes. You should update your software using the installers at the following links:

Mac: http://download.pogoplug.com/install/mac/pogopluginstall.pkg
Win: http://download.pogoplug.com/install/win/pogopluginstall.exe

Note: This installation will update both Remote Access software and Pogoplug Browser, merging them into a single application.

Yes indeed, it works fine now - finally a good release!

It looks good, but now there seem to be collaborating with users (they're told their account exists and the password reset link on the website tells them instructions have been sent which never arrive).

This is only reinforcing the current view that a PogoPlug isn't something we can rely on.
