I tried to watch a video on my iphone4 last night on 3g, and never was able to view it. I choose to watch it ,but it stopped every 3 seconds. I then selected to optimize it and was told to goto the web site for the progress. (why the hell am I using an app if I need to view the web site). Nevertheless, the optimization was never started.

I then tried to open in oplayer, and after 10 minutes quit that app. Pogoplug was doing someting as I could see a progress bar move every so often.

Does each device need to be optimized (I have a iphone 4, 3g and ipad2)? Why isn't there a button to play the optiomized version so the app knows when it can be viewed?

I use an iphone 4, ios5 and goflex net.

Hi there,

This is Christopher, head of Customer Outreach here at Pogoplug.

While Seagate support is best equipped to help you with specific issues with your GoFlex Net allow me to try to explain the transcoding feature.

Videos need to be encoded in a web-friendly H.264 format to stream at goflexnet.pogoplug.com or using our mobile clients. By default, this web optimization is preset to On Demand. You can change this to Always or Never on the Media Settings sub-menu page after logging into goflexnet.pogoplug.com.

However, this doesn't explain why your videos don't seem to be encoding. For help with this, please contact Seagate's excellent support team.

Kindest Regards,

Christopher Louie

Christopher Louie,

If I am running your application on the iphone, why do I need to contact the hardware provider for a software problem?

The not viewing transcoding progress is an application issue (should not send me to the web version to view), no indication that the transcosing is complete is also an application issue!

The file in question was only 32MB and I understand why the process needs to be run, my comment is lack of application features for/during the process.

Hi there

Thanks for the update.

I misunderstood. I read your post to mean your video wasn't successfully transcoding, verified by trying to view the video at goflexnet.pogoplug.com. In this case, you should contact Seagate support because their Support team could diagnose any hardware or database issues.

We'll pass your comments regarding additional status information onto the Mobile Product team.

Kind Regards,

Christopher
