New user with a V2

- As I understand it, no drive letter can be associated, and that such functionality was once included, but has been removed? (Can't find a way to use GoodSync for backing up and syncing).

- Can not sync general files, only media?

- PogoPlug Web Browser can back-up files, but not directories?

- PogoPlug Desktop Browser cannot sync general files?

- Wondering why I made this purchase... Embarassed

Hi Damfino,

I'll answer your questions as I understand them:

As I understand it, no drive letter can be associated, and that such functionality was once included, but has been removed?

Try submitting a support.pogoplug.com ticket - you can obtain a download for the Pogoplug PC software and that contains an drive app option for drive letters. Current Browser software doesn't have drive letter option, and its logged as a request to product management to be added back for future releases.

Can not sync general files, only media?

-Not sure what you are referring to, web 'backup' feature? Pogoplug Browser? If its Pogoplug Browser, I answered general sync workflow below.

PogoPlug Web Browser can back-up files, but not directories?

- One option (if your need is under 5GB) would be to add a free cloud to your account, then go to Settings > Backup > Here you can choose your V2 and backup chosen directories to your cloud. (But I think what you're asking about here is the fact that the flash upload window for the website you can only choose files, but not directories, correct? If thats the case, its a known issue and logged.

PogoPlug Desktop Browser cannot sync general files?

-In browser, you can go to Sync > Files tab, press the plus sign and add any directory. This directory and its contained files will sync to whatever Pogoplug device specificied in the Pogoplug Browser Preferences. I just tested this and was able to sync exe, zip, pkg and whatever files I placed in my folder.

Hope this helps,

Michael

Just to understand what you are saying...  Pogoplug software V3.1 will no longer be made publicly available from CE and there will be no more updates to it?

Sometime in the near future the Browser/Uploader software will incorporate the drive letter option?

Hi Brandon,

I can't speak to the future of either software, but I was informed that support can send direct download links for the Pogoplug Drive App software and that should work in this case if this person needs the drive letter functionality back.

You are kidding. That's the magic of the product.

Hi hvelez and Brandon,

This is Christopher, head of Customer Outreach here at Pogoplug.

We just want to reassure you that we understand the drive app feature is important to our users.

We use this daily around here as well.

Stay tuned and thank you for your patience,
Christopher

Michael,

Thank you for your detailed response.

The PogoPlug software is so hobbled and dumbed-down that I don't think it's going to work for me. I am now looking at the Tonido, as the Explorer-style interface offers the functionality I need.
