I have a pink Pogoplug box and an iMac running Pogoplug desktop. I'd like to be able to remotely access both devices using the iPhone app. and of course this works fine when the iMac is awake.

is there any way to make it wake remotely? i thought about forwarding port 4365 to the iMac but that will probably kill the Pogoplug box, right?

how does the server differentiate between multiple clients on the same LAN - does it open multiple ports?

any advice would be most welcome. love this service but need to stay green and put that iMac to bed when i'm not using it.

@anthonymobile:

I don't know if it is really commensurate with the task you describe, but one could see if there is an Optware-based package that would send the "magic packets" needed to wake your iMac...

but...

There is an easier way.

If you have an iPhone, go to the appstore and search Wake On Lan or WOL, and you'll see there are plenty of WOL apps for the iPhone. In fact, that is how I wake my Mac's remotely, when I need to.
