I had an suspicion for few days, that nothing is working. I did not verify it because I had no time to play with it. Today I went through the P dirve, desktop, android app and none of the above function. I had the P drive disappeared 2 weeks ago and was fixed by reinstalling the software. Now the P drive is there but it says it is empty. I removed the usb drive from the pogoplug and it has no problem. On the destop, the folders are there, the file names are there, the photo thumb nails are not showing and I can't open any files. From the android app, I can see the drive, but cannot go any further. I can only guess that the software is being change and  messing things up including the previous missing P drive problem.

nothing working for me either, other than the web app which sucks.

I tried deleting all the apps and reloading just the new browser, still nothing. please help, I can't access my files. I'm tired of them forcing updates that break my pogoplug and locks me out my files.

My shares stopped working... in some cases, creating new shares worked, in others did not...

PLUS every time pogoplug makes a change on their end, XBox streaming becomes disabled!!!

October 22, 2011 7:34 PM

so i tried all the uninstall scripts and stuff in another thread, 0 help. it completely crashes Finder when trying to use pogoplug. I tweeted about it, and support DM'd me asking what my problem was. But of course since they don't follow me, I can't DM them back. I'm not surprised they can't update software without breaking it, since they can't even figure out how twitter works.

Please write in to support (support@pogoplug.com) with specifics and they'll help figure out what's going on. Sorry about response from support re Twitter

@towelie Have support sorted this out for you yet? The reason I ask is that I am having the exact same problem 'Drive not available' on pogoplug.com, Folder empty on pogoplug software and also empty on Android App. Support have told me to eject, remove and check disk for errors which I did, but made no difference.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had a problem back in August and had a recurrence of the problem this last week. I can access the drives through wireless and XP (app), but my desktop (running Vista and hard wired to the PogoPlug device) could not access the pogo drives from the desktop app. I could get them through the internet link. But a bummer.

Now, seems to be working today, let's hope it continues to work.

HEY SUPPORT - IT WORKS TODAY SO STOP SCREWING AROUND WITH IT! IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

No, there is no progress. I had been asked to remove the drive from pogoplug to check for errors but there were none. Reconnect everything up and the problem is still the same.

@timhorton Thanks, still the same for me today too. No drive available on web, software or android. I get the feeling support have no idea either. It's never the same person twice and they don't seem to know their own product.
Wondering if removing the .ceid would help. Problem with doing that is that it would take two weeks to transcode everything again.

October 25, 2011 6:17 AM

I've been working with support and we havent fixed it yet. I've tried about 3-4 things they asked me to, and just sent them a logfile. I'll keep the thread updated.

October 25, 2011 8:44 AM

Thanks,
I've tried the check disk error and have now just tried changing usb cable and using a different usb socket on the pplug, but still the same.
Hard Drive works ok when plugged into pc, so must be a problem that has arisen with the latest software update.
Am awaiting my next reply.

I'm fixed now. Support sent me the cleanup script again (I think it was the same one). Then they had me reinstall again, and said "they fixed it". I did, and now it works. I don't know if that means there's a new version of the install package or if they fixed it on their server side. I'm running version 3.1.0.67.

I'm pleased with the responses and TAT I got from Support. But its pretty ridiculous for them to push forced updates that break our system without telling us. Its the second time this year they broke my drives without notice of an update.

October 25, 2011 9:06 AM

I got the same instruction, just like the one before, but I don't have time to execute yet.
Yesterday, unknowingly, I must have left pogoplug running in the background of my android phone. All I noticed was something eating up the battery into the red zone. I put it into the charger for 5 hrs and it just made it to the yellow zone and the phone was almost burning hot. But when I click on pogoplug, it was running fine in the phone. I shutdown the phone for charging. This morning it was fully charged but pogoplug just show loading and nothing else. Problem is still the same on the P drive and my.pogoplug page. I reported this to the support team.

I am running 3.1.0.70 since 10/24/2011 and still have problems. Does the version number goes up or down?

October 25, 2011 9:19 AM

I'm on a Mac, Snow Leopard. probably different versions per OS.

October 25, 2011 1:37 PM

I'm still using version 3.0.3.45 Still awaiting more help from support. Good to know though that its probably not a problem with my hard drive. Thanks to you both for the updates.

I've been asked by support to delete the .cedata file on the hard drive. Has anyone else ben asked to do this? I don't want to do it unless it is strictly necessary as the last time I did it, it took almost two weeks for it to finish transcoding everything.

Hi all,

This is Christopher, head of Customer Outreach here at Pogoplug.

Reading through all your symptoms, most of you experienced a symptom of an issue with the Pogoplug Service. This is a by product of implementing an often requested feature - not requiring login to Pogoplug Software Software every two weeks. Once logged into Pogoplug Software you should remain logged into until quitting Pogoplug Software.

Engineering has since resolved this issue on the Pogoplug Service and while it may be ultimately necessary to uninstall and reinstall Pogoplug Software version 3.1.x, please try the following first:
1) Quit Pogoplug Software and restart Pogoplug Software; you may be prompted to login anew.
2) Restart your computer

If both of these fail, please work with Support and they'll fix you up.

Kind Regards,
Christopher
on behalf of the Pogoplug Team

FWIW, I did experience the mentioned hiccup in mid-October, but since then, all is well. Hope you get your setup fixed.

(I have Pogoplug B02, and PogoPlug installed on my media center Mac [miniMac]).

The cause to my problem is identified but I don't think it will be solved. I always have my pogoplug connected to the main router "indirectly" and it worked until recently. What I meant by indirectly is I am going through an access point, or a wireless repeater, or an AT&T 3g Microcell. The reason I did that is I don't have enough ethanet ports from the main router. I guess pogoplug will take the position of the direct connection is the only condition they support. The indirect connection just happened to work in the past and good luck to you if you are out of ports.

October 26, 2011 12:11 PM

if you are out of ports on your router, why don't daisy chain another gig switch to it to get some more ports and attach the pogoplug locally?

October 26, 2011 2:37 PM

I've followed 'so called' Support to the letter of the law. I've been asked to delete the .cedata file, which I have (reluctantly), but was unable to eject it from the pogoplug first. Was still told to delete it anyway. Have deleted it and power cycled my pogoplug, reattached and guesss what, IT'S MADE NO DAMN DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. I'm getting totally p***ed off with this heap of junk!! SUPPORT DO NOT KNOW THEIR OWN PRODUCT AND YOU JUST GET PUSHED FROM ONE MEMBER OF SUPPORT TO ANOTHER. After 18 months of usage I'm definitely losing interest in this product. Does anyone know of a similar product with a support team that knows its product inside out and a management team that cares about it customers?

Hi Rob68,

May we have your current support ticket number(s) and we'll get together with Support to figure this out?

and mines toasted again. the pogoplug pane loads but none of my drives mount. and its back to crashing my Finder. And there no sniff of my drives on the PS3 either, only the useless web-page works.

October 27, 2011 2:05 PM

@Chris,
Hi Chris, my number is #49135. I have just had another message from support telling me that the engineers have made a small change to my drive from their side. All my files and folders are now visible again and everything is running again normally, albeit a bit slow due to media processing. Do you know what can be done at 'Their' end to get it to work, as there are a few of us on here with very similar problems? Don't get me wrong,I am pleased to have it back up and working again, but am still annoyed as to the time it took for it to be fixed. I have spent almost 24 hours in the last four days messing around with my pogoplug, trying to get it to work again. I knew that it wasn't a problem on my end and told support that deleting my .cedata file probably wouldn't make much difference. The last time I had to delete that folder it was almost two weeks of non stop transcoding before full speed was available again.
I think that support should involve engineering at the first stage of any problems. It would save an awful lot of time and hassle for us, 'Your Customers'.

October 27, 2011 3:53 PM

So, just to clarify. I've been told that there was some sort of problem with my .ceid file that was corrected from pogoplug supports end. They don't know what caused it, which is a little worrying.
I'm just glad to get it back up and running again. (UNTIL THE NEXT TIME!)
