The Toshiba THRiVE Tablet has been a good player with the Pogoplug app. I am pleased with its performance that is at the same level as desktop access (both Wi-Fi and LAN). So if you are unhappy with the small screen wireless telephone, try a tablet - "A Toshiba THRiVE Tablet!"
The THRiVE is not like the others that often do NOT provide a USB connection (it has two); or, other contraptions often lack an SD card (it can use a 128gb SDXC card) (I am using a 32gb SD Class 10 SD card); and, the BEST thing about the THRiVE is that the battery is user accessible (I have a backup each lasting about 11 hours - 16 hours is the longest one of them has lasted but that was with minimal continuous use).
The THRiVE is a good companion for the Pogoplug (even better than a phone or laptop) since the 10" 16x9 layout is great for movies stored on the SD card when Wi-Fi is not available to stream or download movies and music from the Pogoplug. Of course, I have several 32gb SDHC cards that I prepopulate with movies and music knowing that wireless communications is still very primitive and not available in a lot of unexpected places. The THRiVE also has an AirPlane mode so the SD cards are very useful on 6-15 hour flights.
A hint on battery conservation. If you like a app that loads at boot and stays resident, uninstall until you need it the next time. If there is an app that keeps checking on your location with GPS and/or Wi-Fi, turn it off or uninstall it until it is really needed. The Manage Applications feature is a good tool to control the apps.
The THRiVE is Honeycomb. There are some apps that have not been updated to work with a tablet. There are only a few of these that I have found and a note to the app Developer seems to have fixed the problem. If it is a large company (airlines, software house, etc.), do not expect all that much from them. Most of the time input is taken under advisement and then if budget permits, it may be implemented if ... .
