As far as I know, the only option is to change the file extension of the mkv file.
That being of course, without optware, modification of any kind.
Why they haven't put WFS into every single device by now.. no one in the community knows. It's only on the Seagate models (Dockstar and GoFlex Net)

Hi all,
I got my new pogoplug plugged in and running, and am loving it, but i have only one gripe - .mkv file playback/streaming.
I've got WDTV live, and the general idea when getting pogoplug is to play videos from pogoplug attached storage. I managed to stream avi files, but .mkv files are a no go. I've searched for solution and found some workarounds which involve modifying the pogoplug.
My question is: is there any way to play/stream .mkv files from pogoplug with my WDTV live without modifying the pogoplug? And if there is, is there any noob friendly tutorial for it? I am a total noob when it comes to linux.
Heard there is a WFS command on Dockstar devices accessible from pogoplug interface, but I wonder why isn't there one for pogoplug devices? I really hate these limitations since they hinder the accessibility of the data, which is the sole purpose of the device.
Thanks on the quick reply.
In the meantime I have encountered another problem - I can't have srt subtitles wihile streaming, which is logical, but now I realize that the only relevant solution would be that Cloud engines include WFS in the next update or that I install optware. It is really frustrating that I cannot get desired functionality with a widely popular device such as WDTV live.
I guess there is no way to "mask" pogoplug as a Docstar device so I could have the WFS option in my.pogoplug.com?
Well technically there is a way, but you're not going to want to do that because it would likely cause it to completely screw up your firmware. For the sake of 99.999% of users' safety, I'm not going to disclose this.
Christopher would be mad :p
Then let's not make Christoper mad and wait for official WFS for pogoplug :)
Flashed my WDTV live today with WDLXTV (probably the easiest custom firmware flash ever) and got ton of new functions (including samba). Too bad modding or flashing pogoplug isn't that n00b friendly.
