I can't complain. Pogoplug is great.

September 14, 2011 11:06 PM

Might be, but it says it soooo easy to instal but it's not and when you ask for help you have to wait for days! Everybody have great products but a few give great support... and those who do win! Not this company!

Set up is easy and the support is average. You must have a unique problem. Try posting your problem here and see if someone can help.

@Mrnicoo
Listening to you there must be really something going wrong. As "Rock" said, why don't you describe your problem here. There is a bunch of people who will try to help you.
I can only say that besides a toaster I have never had a technical device like Pogoplug that was so easy to set up. Mine has been working for more than 1 1/2 years now and I have very little to complain.

Ok, so here we go...
I install popoplug and after that I choose "I am new to Popoplug" - NEXT
Then my mac start to think and the I get the following message "The Popoplug setup wizard has expired a problem and can't continue at this time. Please click "finish" and try again......."

I have a MAC 10.6.8 and I downloaded the right Popoplug.... With other words and as I describe before - I can't register!

What to do?

Our support team works 24/7 and we have our initial response down to under 3 hours. If they didn't get back to you it's possible they never received your ticket. Can you let me know what email address you used and I'll follow-up with them immediately to see why they didn't get back to you? Did you send an email to support@pogoplug.com or use the online form from my.pogoplug.com? If you don't feel comfortable putting your email address here, please send another email to support@pogoplug.com and write back here if you don't hear back in a few hours.

It sounds like you have a unique problem that does not effect most users. Maybe try to download from a different browser or make sure that your firewall is not blocking the pogoplug application. Like Jed said, try again to contact support as this is not an issue most of us are familiar with. Stick it out, once you get the pogoplug up and running you will love it. What are your plans for the device? I am sure myself and everyone else has lots of ideas and input on the matter.

Hi again...
Just tried it again and same results at my iMac. "The Popoplug setup wizard has expired a problem and can't continue at this time. Please click "finish" and try again later......."

I tried this 50 times now, install and unstall... with same results. I also sent 4-5 mail to support@popoplug.com but I always get them back with error message. Can it be that Popoplug i blocked with some Internet providers?

As I wrote before, I could install it on my Mac Airbook in a internet cafe and there all ok and I could add content and so on, but when I come home and open the air Book the Popoplug web access site says that my hard drive is OFFLINE... I don't use any firewall or virus program when I try and same same....

Wait for a response from support and see if they can solve your problem. It does seem that the problem exists within your network seeing you can get it to work in other locations.

September 15, 2011 10:52 PM

Correct, I think so too... I can't even send a mail to support@popoplug.com... Can the internet provider block this? or is there anything I can do with the network setting?. I need help with this ASAP, and I can not send a mail to them so hopefully they check this post today!

September 15, 2011 10:58 PM

you cant send mail from your normal email or just from the pogoplug website? Can you send mail to other address? Seems like a strange problem.

September 15, 2011 11:25 PM

From your comment it looks like you are trying to send an email to "support@popoplug.com". The correct address is "support@pogoplug.com".

All this reminds me why I bailed out of Tech Support years ago! Jed, you're clearly a patient and gracious person!

What do you mean? I had my PogoPlug up and running before breakfast. I was still in my pj's. All without reading any instructions. It was that easy. Some non-computer literate family members found it extreamly easy to access the shaires.

You don't have to be a genuis to use a PogoPlug.

I personally did have problems with set up and could see how some people might. It took me about 5 hours and a few phone calls and emails to realize that my pogoplug would not work with my internet connect from my college apartment. I needed to sign a release for every computer that was on my network and with the pogoplug (has no screen and no built in web browsers, it is not a computer). It was impossible for me to set it up. I had to wait till I returned home for a visit and set it up at my parents house and leave it there for 8 months and use it remotely.

None of which was a problem in any way with the Pogoplug, it was a restriction placed on your internet connection, which PP has absolutely no control over.

Right, but orginally I had thought it was the pogoplug. All I was trying to get across is that there are problems that arise and without more knowledge it is easy to get frustrated and blame the pogoplug. There are so many factors that have to go right in order to get the proper performance.

September 18, 2011 11:47 AM

@Mrnicoo:

Before installing the pogoplug software on your Mac,  make sure you:

  1. Use DiskUtility.app to fix permissions
  2. Restart your Mac
  3. Use DiskUtility.app to fix permissions (again)
  4. then try the installer

I had problems w/ it also, but running permissions fix and restarting it worked for me.  (TBH, I always used to do this before any sort of installer on my Mac, but I'd become less careful lately).

FWIW, I have the free pogoplug installed on my MacPro, on my AirBook, and on my MacMini (our MediaCenter attached to the LCDTV).   For me it is working well.

i agree with this which is why i try to take the track of "lets make sure all our ducks are in a row first" when responding to questions.  everything has to be working right for you to get the performance you expect and some of it you have no control over....the software and hardware is far from perfect but given the cost, we have to cut the maker some slack.

what i wonder is why so many of the fustrated responses seem to go over the top a bit with insults.
