I have a similar problem as well. I have the latest generation MBP with Lion.
here is something else that happens.
If I happen to leave a finder window open to a Pogodrive at home where it is easily accessible, and then sleep my computer to take it to work and wake my computer, the Finder gives me a beach ball which I then have to do a hard reset because relaunching the Finder does not do anything.
Ok...I am at my wits end here. Maybe I just don't completely understand how the Pogoplug works and I'm trying to do too much, but I'm about ready to deep-six this thing!
I have a Pogoplug Pro connected to a 6 MB AT&T DSL service at my place of work. When I'm on my work network, things seem to run fairly smoothly and pretty fast. Not too bad.
The problem happens when I access the files remotely from my MBP. I have a 12 MB AT&T U-Verse connection at home, where I access remotely the most. Just about any time that I attempt to upload to or download from my Pogoplug, Finder beachballs. For a LONG time! In fact, I was attempting to upload a 52 mb video to my drive today and I had to hard-shutdown my MBP to get it to work!
I have a 2 TB drive connnected to the Pogoplug at work. I use it for all my work files...about 20-30 GB of information. The web interface works great, but when I attempt to use the Pogoplug software and access the drive in Finder, everything goes to pot.
Ultimately, if this doesn't get better, I'm just going to carry around a portable 1 TB drive and sell the Pogo. What options do I have? Are there some settings that I can tweak to get better performance? The iOS softwares work GREAT for me...just OSX Lion and Finder stinks.
I've also had issues where the Pogoplug just loses the drive that's connected to it. It just disappears! I then have to go through the process of making sure the drive doesn't need to be repaired and then rebooting the whole system. Happens about once a month. Contacted support both times, sent logs and they "made changes to my Pogoplug setup" on their end...and was told to contact them if I experience more issues.
I'm just extremely frustrated and the lack of consistency is really getting annoying. I feel like I'm spending more time waiting for or fixing the Pogoplug than the time it's taking me to do it! Any suggestions...please??? ;)
I also don't like the fact that Spotlight doesn't use the Pogo drives, but that's another thread all-together.
