I am encountering the following when I SSH into my Pogoplug:

Pogoplug:~$ passwd

Changing password for root
New password:
Bad password: too weak
Retype password:
passwd: cannot update password file /etc/shadow
Pogoplug:~$

=============

Can anyone advise on how to change the password back to the default password, in this case, 'stxadmin'?

If it were a dockstar, it was stxadmin, pogoplugs had ceadmin. You're better off using the my.pogoplug.com to set it, if possible.

This contains some information on what the original information may have been: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=28728 but be warned that (I certainly can't verify) editing these files with the values show may not be ceadmin or stxadmin.

WarheadsSE,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, once the SSH access is enabled through my.pogogplug.com (with the current web interface as of 08.31.11), the user is prompted for a password. I do not believe it can be changed from that point forward once it has been set; I am not 100% on that point, however. Will need to double check.

By the way, I am a bit confused on the information provided at the link you shared. Sorry, my UNIX knowledge is a bit minimal.
