Hi

I want to use the POGOPLUG as an inhouse server to move files from one computer to another.  I will have to limit my out house use due to capped useage from provider.  I tried moving a file to the hard drive attached to my POGOPLUG with the internet turned off and it didn't work.  My question is;

When i am moving files internally do they go through the internet and thuse count againts my usage, or does it move from computer to router, to POGOPLUG and then to harddrive?

Or do i need to set up something diffrently to keep the file move inhouse?

Thanks

the pogoplug should not be transferring files over the interenet but i read a post about a reported case of files being routed over a remote server(in Japan?) due to a registration error. i beleive that was resolved by Pogoplug tech support.

install the desktop software on your PCs and use the pogoplug drives to copy the files. you SHOULD get LAN speeds-even more so if you turn off the extra video processing and thumbnail creations. if you are using the web user interface to move files, you definitely need to be internet connected though as it goes out to my.pogoplug.com to give you access.

even if data isn;t going over the internet, I believe your Pogoplug still needs to be internet connected so it can be registered with Pogoplugs location servers-so some traffic is inevitable. unfortunately, the fact is that the Pogoplug is not a stand alone unit.

THanks for the information. I just wanted to make sure that it keeps info inhouse when transfering.
