Just switching to PogoPlug but I absolutely don't want to use my remote hard disk through a web interface.

I need its attached disk to be always available as drive L:

A lot of apps rely on this. Backups, etc... They don't use the web. They copy directly from c:\whatever to L:\whatever.
And I want to be able drag/drop my files onto it.

How can I do this?

The network neighborhoud doesn't show anything. I need to mount that drive using the "Map network drive..." Windows menu.

Mapping it as a network drive is the only use I will have with my attached disk.
Don't tell me it's not possible? Is the Pogoplug uselsess?

Thanks for any clue.

Steve

You need to install\run the PP software on your computer. If you search around here, you'll find links to older versions that don't install the entire PP suite to your computer, that way you can map the PP as a drive on your computer. By default, it's drive P:, but you can change the drive letter (articles are available here as well).

The PP doesn't have WFS capability, but if you really need it you can find a Seagate Dockstar on the cheap on eBay. It's functionally identical to standard PP device but also supports WFS.

Thanks,
I do have the software installed but I can't chose which folder to mount.
PP software mounts only the hard drive "root" folder. I don't need this, I need other subfolder to be mounted to drive letter I want and make them appear as the top level.

Looks like my Pogo is heading to the trash.

Sjordi:

The best way I have found to do this is to use the MS-DOS Subst command.

For example, I made a subfolder come up as M: by

1) have the Pogo root folder mapped to P: with the software, then

2) from command prompt i typed:

"subst M: P:\cloudshare\mp4"

to make that folder now show as M:

... hope this helps.

**also, from the local area network, you can us Map Network Drive and the actual network name of the device with path, etc. to do the same thing i described above, in Explorer click Tools>Map Network Drive, choose the letter (in this case M:) and then browse for or type/paste the address, for me it would be "\\CS-WX86D\cloudshare\mp4"

I dont know if this answer is in time to help you, but hopefully it will help someone!

Thanks for the tip,
but I've actually put my Pogoplug to the trash and went back to my iOmega iConnect which works like a charm with their new drivers. It also offers cloud computing accessible from anywhere and it's fast.
