Why is it that the iPhone app of pogoplug will play my movies with no problem only when I am in my own home in the same wifi bubble as the pogoplug.

But as soon as i go to 3G or any other wifi i can only get the first ten sec of the movie and then the pic goes out and i can listen to the rest of the movie.

I know that in my own wifi bubble that the link from pogoplug to the computer is wired and transfers really fast and that even in wireless to my phone the pogoplug can still push out the video fast enough.  So why is it that pogoplug doesn't play movies on the go.

Oh also i have just the regular pink pogo not the video/media pogoplug. and I also have heard about the free member and the paid member. something about streaming but not really clear what is up with that. I think it has something about streaming from the computer to the pogo to the internet. I just want to stream from the hard drive to the pogo to the internet.

It sounds like your movies have not yet been "transcoded" for operation remotely. The Pogoplug will process your files so they can be easily played by mobile devices on the go, but this takes some time for the 'Plug to process. However, you can also use the desktop software to perform the transcoding more quickly.

well if your talking about the pogoplug taking almost two or three weeks to transcode my almost 2 TB of movies then yes they have been transcoded.

Before the "transcode" process none of the movies would play either in the app or the web interfaces. now the movies play in the web interface while i am at home, and the app plays movies while i am at home.

I know the app doesn't play movies when i am out and about using the iphone 3G or anybody else's wifi. I have yet to try the web inerface out and about. But then again why should I that is what the app is made for.

i guess there isn't a real answer to the pogoplug iPhone app problem because all i hear across the forum is problem this problem that and the only answers i am hearing i use the smart phone internet web page interface.

WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING AN IPHONE APP IF YOU CAN'T USE IT.

I know that for storage my pogoplug works just fine but to stream anything is just ridiculous.

Pogo plug software works onthego only through web interface, the app works only on local wifi.

whats the point of having the app if the app can only stream the video and music only in the local wifi bubble. If I am home in my own wifi bubble then why would I need to watch my movies on my phone. I would just watch it right from the dvd or blueray.

I dont want to have the app to then turn around and use the web interface. heck I cant even watch the movies on the web interface either. when I am out and about. so when I am not home I cant watch movies or listen to my music.

Kinda pointless as far as I am concerned.

Wait. I have been able to listen to music on AT&T's crummy 3G network just fine. Better when on my wifi sure but it works fine streaming via the app. Now, movie wise, I am confused.

I haven't tried streaming via 3G but I noticed that the digital copies that I have from various bluray movies won't work via pogo plug. Perhaps I'm not letting it transcode it?

If I take a movie and convert it myself to iPhone format it streams ok but I dont want to have to do that as I thought pogo plug will do this for me. I'll check the link above in case missed something.
