you might be thinking of the pogoplug video which does seem to be a newer product than the pogoplug pro(which seems to be discontinued).
is it "faster"? the biggest difference is the addition of an onboard GPU which is supposed to aid in the media transcoding department.
I've been playing with the Seagate Dockstar (many of them) for a few months now and just purchased a PogoPlug Pro. I noticed that its much slower than my Seagate Dockstar.
For whatever reason I had configured my Dockstar with Debian, X windows, Mono and connected a Mimo USB Touchscreen to it. It has become a nice little interface and working well.
I was hoping to be able to do that also with the PogoPlug Pro and noticed that I can but it will be very slow.
I had read somewhere about a new PogoPlug with much more memory and speed.
Is it available yet? Will it be available soon?
I apologize if this wasn't the place to post this question.
Just for clarification as well, the Pogoplug Video was basically the same as the Pogoplug V2 and PRO, but like madman999 said, with the addition of the onboard video encoder.
The Video has been discontinued, so you won't be able to purchase one new. We'll be sure to post on the community if we hear of a replacement or similar model.
in the US, there seems to be alot of PogoPlug and PogoPlug Pro units in the sales channels. Adorama via Buy.Com has the original on sale for 35$. you can also pick them up via eBay.
