I bought the pogoplug yesterday together with a LaCie 2TB external drive. Drive works fine when plugged into a computer directly. I am using Pogoplug desktop software from a Dell Laptop running Windows 7

First of all -  web interface works fine. I see the drive and the files (manuals) preinstalled by LaCie. I can create folders and upload to them.

Problem is the desktop interface. First problem -  Drive did only show a few MBs. I had to setup the drive per computer first (some optimizations by Lacie). Now drive shows correct size. - Solved, great!

Drive shows as P: Pogoplug. When I click on P: I get two folders: "Files shared with me" and a folder with the external drive's name. Presuming that this is my drive, I click on it.

1) the computer takes a very long time accessing it

2) It shows drive as empty (where are the preinstalled LACie manuals)

3) When I try to create a folder, LaCie crashes

4) When I try to upload a 3KB file, Pogo works for 15 minutes, then crashes.

Note: I have disabled the option to create a letter for every connected drive, because when I did, pogo created several drives from one connected drive and all the sizes were incorrect again.

Note2: I have done obvious things like ejecting and reattaching the drive

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Ideally I would like to have one drive letter and when I click on it I want to access and modify the drive and the correct files on the drive in a reasonable amount of time. I know, very demanding :)

Thanks for your help

Is your drive connected to the laptop and you are sharing it from the desktop software or you have a pogo unit?

Thank you for your reply Owen. To answer the question - it plugged into the pogo unit.

BUT - the good news - the problem is solved!

It was the fire wall on my laptop. When I turned off the firewall, everything worked fine. Now I just have to find out, how to guide the pogo throught eh firewall when it is on.
