Did you try an ping 192.168.1.65 and a traceroute 192.168.1.65?
Is your local pc in the same subnet?
What is the output of ssh -v root@192.168.1.65?
Categories: PogoPlug Development
So I have SSH enabled for my Pogoplug Pro.
It's IP on the local network is 192.168.1.65

But when I try to connect, I cannot find it.

So what's going on?
~ $ ping 192.168.1.65
PING 192.168.1.65 (192.168.1.65): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Host is down
ping: sendto: Host is down
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
ping: sendto: Host is down
~ $ traceroute 192.168.1.65
traceroute to 192.168.1.65 (192.168.1.65), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets
traceroute: sendto: Host is down
~ $ ssh -v root@192.168.1.65
OpenSSH_5.2p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8l 5 Nov 2009
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh_config
debug1: Connecting to 192.168.1.65 [192.168.1.65] port 22.
debug1: connect to address 192.168.1.65 port 22: Host is down
So I'm guessing the host is down =). But I can still access it and see my files through my.pogoplug.com. Also if I run the Pogoplug app, I can see a drive mounted in Finder (I'm on a Mac), but when I try to access it the Finder freezes.
I've contacted Pogoplug support about it but they have given me non-smart answers, like if my ISP is banning Pogoplug :-/.
Ok,
so next guesses:
- Is your PC in the same subnet (192.168.1.X)?
- Did you restart your Pogoplug?
Because the checkbox just activates the Autostart of the SSH Server but is not starting it without reboot.
Did you restart your Pogoplug?
Wow, that did it! Amazing! :) For anyone watching: I ejected all attached drives through the web and then plugged out the device and then plugged it back in and now SSH works!
Thanks nomadic!
