I was able to connect via SSH with no major issues just now (Mac OS X 10.6 via Terminal.) I was able to connect using the regular "ssh root@192.168.1.XXX" command using the password I set up. I'd contact Pogoplug official support as this might be a more detailed technical issue.

Hey, I recently bought a Pink Pogoplug V2 (series B04). I connected it, registered it - everything seems to work fine - I can upload and share files.
The only problem is enabling the SSH access to the plug. I've did it in the my.pogoplog.com web interface, configured a password, but the plug itself does not seem to open port 22.
It's definitely up (responds to ping), and I'm definitely using the right ip, but it just refuses the connection, like the SSH access was never enabled. I'm using the root user as a login.
I tried the following: powercycling, enabling/disabling SSH in web interface.
I'm connecting to the internet through a router, but since all other functionality is working, I doubt it's a port forwarding issue ...
192.168.1.148 (pogoplug) -> 192.168.1.1 (router) -> internet
Out of options here - any ideas?
I've tried the following instructions, to no avail ...
Please try the following instruction in order to reset ssh setting and enabling them.
1. Clear browser cache
2. Under Security Settings, uncheck "Enable SSH access for this Pogoplug enabled device."
3. Sign out from my.pogoplug.com
4. Sign in to my.pogoplug.com
5. Check " Enable SSH access for this Pogoplug enabled device." and set a new password.
If after these steps you are still facing the issue please do as follows:
1. Please safely unmount your hard drive from http://my.pogoplug.comhttp://my.pogoplug.com/ using the eject icon next to the folder representing your hard drive.
2. Power down your Pogoplug and attached drive.
3. Power up your Pogoplug, wait for a solid green led.
Hi Forceflow, is the device from which you are trying to ssh to your Pogoplug getting it's IP address from the same router as your Pogoplug, or are you trying to ssh to it from outside your LAN?
Hi Nicky,
Yep, they are connected to the same router, and are in the same subnet. I can ping the plug fine. I've tried connecting using the default ssh client in Ubuntu as well as Putty in Windows - to no avail.
Another thing I discovered: if I go to the media tab and try the button "Reset All PogoPlug Settings", it tells me this:
"There was a problem resetting your Pogoplug settings. This could be because your Pogoplug does not yet have the latest firmware update installed."
My plug has firmware: "Device 2.5.9.5"
Possibly related?
Nmap-scanned my pogoplug, the SSH port simply is not open:
Nmap scan report for Pogoplug (192.168.1.148)
Host is up (0.00075s latency).
Not shown: 997 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
80/tcp open http
443/tcp open https
3333/tcp open dec-notes
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.12 seconds
Hi Forceflow, you should definitely open up a ticket with our support team at support.pogoplug.com so that they can help you resolve this issue. It's definitely not normal behavior.

Some problem here and I also have the "Device 2.5.9.5" version.
Looks like the Fireware version is the reason.
2.5.9.5 is the most recent firmware for Pogoplug Pro, so if you have a Pogoplug Pro with that firmware version, you are good. If you have a different device and have that firmware version, you should contact support so that we can get you hooked up with the correct version.
Hi Guys, there actually are V3 pink Pogoplugs out there that have 2.5.9.5, so I imagine you do actually have the correct firmware. Please do submit a support ticket, though, so that our team can get your sorted out.
Thanks
-Nick
Ticket submitted this morning, and I have sent you the device ID, Nicky.
I also tried to attach the plug to a totally different network (at a friend of mine), to rule out networking problems as the issue - the problem remains the same, unfortunately.
Some surfing around also got me to forwarding UDP port 4365 to the device, but no dice.
@lucky: glad I'm not the only one with the issue.
For the record: I have a PINK pogoplug, model "POGO-B04".
I do have a "POGO-B04" too.
Ian from the support team did something with the "diagnostic tool". Don't know what but after restarting the pogoplug with a new HDD the option appeared and know everything is working as it should.

Well, could this Ian from the support team do the same for me?

Still, the problem is not resolved. Support even said I should try to connect on port 23 - which is not an SSH port at all ...
Losing hope here ...
Me too. POGO-B04, ssh enabled, connection refused. nmap shows all 1000 ports filtered.
Hi Guys, I bought a pink pogoplug 2 last year and never touch it until today. I tried to log in my.pogoplug.com and enable SSH but could not find where shows Enable SSH etc.
Is this function disabled? Please help!
Thanks in advance.
Steve
Bumping this thread as well. Even with the new WebUI and whatnot, and new firware (Version 3.2.6), the issue remains.
I see the enable SSH checkbox, can enable and disable it, but nothing ever changes on the actual device, even after repeated power-cycling, forwarding ports (80,443,4365 and 333) and re-registering the device.
Can someone help?
