http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Main/PlugComputers is the setup page for Optware packages. Requires Linux skills, read the instructions thoroughly. Also search this forum for Samba. At the bottom of the page above are addresses if you want to install full Linux distributions - Plugapps(Archlinux), Debian, Slackware, etc. Timemachine/AFP, Samba, and Firefly Media Server are all supported. If you are not comfortable with Linux, the best Pogoplug Derivative to get is the Cloudstor which has Timemachine and Samba capabilities.

I just a pogoplug and had a few questions. Half the reason I bought the pogoplug was to use it as a media server with my jailbroken Apple TV. I've seen some people are running SMB shares on their pogoplug. Can anyone provide a link to setting this up?
Is Time Machine supported yet? Even using a SMB drive and tricking OSX to use the drive would work.
Is it possible to set up a web/ftp server?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the info. Just 2 quick questions.
1. Do I own version 3? It's not the pro or video. And it's black.
2. I will lose access to my.pogoplug correct?
1. It sounds like a V3. Does it say P21 in the model number?
2. If you use optware, you shouldn't, You can contact Plugapps and ask them.
P21. Perfect. If I install the different linux version, then I lose access. I just re-read the site. Thanks again.
