Ok, I'll see if I can help with a few of these.
1. It's probably picking up the metadata files, which Pogoplug stores in hidden files. Perhaps the failed format didn't delete all the data. Try reformatting the drive (not a quick format, but a full one, which will take a lot longer.) Then if you father refreshes his browser and tries to view it again, it shouldn't show those files anymore.
2. I'd contact support on this one. If the file is transcoded, it should work ok.
3. Is your dad connecting to the Pogoplug drive connected to the hardware? Or is he connecting to a local drive you're sharing with the Desktop Software? The hardware should allow you to stream from a USB connected drive. The Premium software comes in if you wanted to stream from a local drive on the PC itself.
4. Now I'm confused :) I'm not sure if you own the Pogoplug, and it's set up in your system, or if your father owns it and it's set up in his system.
There is an admin account for the Pogoplug, and you tie desktop machines and Pogoplug hardware to a certain account. I'm thinking the main, admin account is your dad's, right? You'd have to sign in with that account to see the files he hasn't shared, as they should be living on the drive. (On a side note, the Biz allows you to set up multiple separate user accounts for the same hardware. I don't think it's applicable in your usecase though.)
Hope that helps!
Hi
Ive had the pogoplug since December '10 and only recently setup due to getting on the i-phone band wagon. I must say its a quality piece of kit and works fantastic with my account. I am however having a few teething problems which I'm hoping the community can assist me with.
1. I originally setup my IcyBox USB hard disk on the Pogoplug but when i attempted to format the hard drive it failed and now it wont even be picked up by my computer. Now when my Dad logs into his PogoPlug account he can see all the media that i shared with him from that now corrupt drive. How do i remove that old media so it does not appear in his account?
2. I can view transcoded avi files on the iphone no worries however my girlfriend cant open the file on her account working off the same network as me. Is this due to her handsets operating system (Android) or have i not shared the media correctly.
3. Again the same file cant be viewed on my fathers i-Phone says something about a Pogo Premium account (not on same wifi network). I thought anyone can view anything as long as its shared?
4. Finally my fathers uploaded loads of old family photos onto the PogoPlug but only bothered sharing a few of them with me. I can only see the files hes shared so are all the other photos physically stored on the hard drive connected to the PogoPlug. Is their not a Admin account that can see all the media and from there you can see whats shared and to whom?
Thanks for you time reading this. I've read through the FAQs on the webpage but i think the whole PogoPlug account system is difficult to get my head around, especailly if using multiple hard drives.
