You can't use network sharing (WFS/samba) on a Pogoplug. Only the Dockstar models come with it.
You could try installing a 3rd party app though.
My Seagate Dockstar died a couple of days ago so I went out and bought a Pogoplug Pro. Everything works but I don't see it as a network share at all. I can see my Western Digital media player and my HP home server but not Pogoplug Pro. By the way, I can see it as a upnp device, I can access the files but I prefer a network share. Do I have to create one but how?

Where do I start? I've heard of SSH but don't know how to use it to access Pogoplug Pro. I am using an Imac and a Windows PC. Pogoplug should have this feature available out of the box. Dockstar have this feature so why not with Pogoplug Pro? Anyway, I have 12 more days to play around with this thing and if I cannot get it going then it's going back to Bestbuy for a refund!

http://www.ctrlaltdeleted.com/?p=3 is not going to work because the machine in question is a pogoplug pro and an upgraded wget needs to be also installed.
I also use Macs, PCs, and Linux machines to access the plugs. Anyway, you do need some Linux skills to do this. Might as well send the Pro back now. See if you can get a GoFlex Net since they have samba (they were on sale a while ago at Office Depot for $29.99). I use regular 2.5" Sata drives on them which are faster than the usb ones that can be connected to the Dockstar http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/nslu2-general/message/8435 .

I have been trying for 3 days to have a network share with this device, unfortunately you have to hack it and I don't really want to waste my time. I was wondering why network share is not a feature with Pogoplug. I'll find an alternative.bubbajoe said: look here: http://www.ctrlaltdeleted.com/?p=3 and here http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/16257/unable-to-edit-smb.conf-file/http://www.ctrlaltdeleted.com/?p=3 is not going to work because the machine in question is a pogoplug pro and an upgraded wget needs to be also installed. Which link?
What's the alternative? Please share with us, so we can try it.
Hi OddballHero and ob1knobe,
The new Buffalo CloudStor supports Samba OOB. http://buffalocloudstor.com/

Christopher
Good advice Chris. I believe it supports both Samba and AFP (Timemachine) functionality. So Macs and PCs are covered plus it also has SATA for speed.
Question, Is the Goflex Net being discontinued?
