It was brought to my attention by my users (customers/clients) that attempting to use the Pogoplug on a netBook is mostly an exercise in frustration.  This problem also affects the "soft" Pogoplug used during Beta though I was not aware of this problem since I do not own a netBook.  The matter was brought to me by a client who said it, "Doesn't work and I should stop using it!"

Asking a few questions gave me a surprising answer.  The client uses the netBook when traveling and a desktop in the office/home.  I would have thought it would be a matter of speed, lack of memory, or those sorts of usual things - "NOT!"

The cause of the clients frustration was not with the desktop application since it is based on Window's Explorer and is not affected.  It is the web access component of the desktop; or, the window delivered when using my.pogoplug.com.

It seems that the window has dynamic resizing issues to comfortably fit on the screen of a netBook.  I really does.  I borrowed a netBook to see for myself.  Using the F11 function is of marginal help.  If "F11" does cause a resizing of the displayed window (usually to 75%) everything is so "small" that many of us mereMortals would need a microscope.

Grabbing a corner or a side to does not seem to be possible because they are outside the screen boundaries and cannot be reached.

What all this means is that certain control points (buttons), or features/controls, are not accessible to the user.

Would it be possible for someone to take a look at the netBook and the Pogoplug web access to make sure the window dynamically resizes to properly fit on the display.

Ultimately, this unacceptable situation was replicated on three different netBooks:  HP, two different flavors of Dell, and I forgot the third (yea, the two dell counted as one).

What is the resolution of the netbook set at?

The only limit to the Pogoplug is your imagination... and C skills... and linux skills. ^_^ h\t\tp://download.pogoplug.com/opensource/pogoplug-gcc.tar.bz2

Wish I could be of more help and give you a better answer other than whatever they use will be the default setting

The Dell's are in CA and probably will be there for the foreseeable future.

Have no immediate clue for the where-abouts of the others.

I only have infrequent contact with these folks that have the netBooks. In most cases, except this one, that is best - means there are no issuse/problems!

Unfortunately the owners are just harvesters and have no clue about creation or development and speak little or no "geek!"

I will give it a try to make contact though no guarantee when that will happen whether by phone or eMail. When contact is made I will try to "draw" (sic) them a picture that will lead them to that information, if possible.

Almost had a Toshiba netBook that exhibits similar characteristics on other websites. Just learned that it was sold after it was replaced at a party with a "free" fully equipped IPad.

netBooks seem to be scarce around here.

Hmmm, just learned while typing this note that it is tentative that I will be in CA in July. That seems a long time to wait to get an answer ... .

Whatever?
