I go to Downloads and get the new software to share my computer, but where is the software that gets installed on my computer to share my pogoplug devices?

It used to be in the downloads area, but now it seems it's been replaced by the software that shares the computer.

For the MAC, it was called  Pogoplug_OSX_2.5.5

It's the program that accesses Pogoplug devices, not the new computer sharing program.

Where is it now? And the one for my Windows computers?

@Jeff92677,

The Pogoplug software keeps the old functionality of the previous version 2.5.5; i.e., mounting your Pogoplug attached drives so they appear in Finder.

Version 3 of the software ADDS the major feature to turn your Mac into a Pogoplug.

I encourage you to give it a try!

Chris,

Why remove the earlier version??

The new version is clever, but makes the cloud idea more like a huge FOG descending over ones LAN, including Pogoplug devices and computers.

But I did try it, it's clever, and it should be available but the earlier version was great for accessing the pogoplug devices (or in my case Pogoplug and Seagate GoFlexNet devices).

Give people a choice. And keep the original version up-to-date with any bug fixes, etc.

Just a thought from a customer.

@Jeff92677

This is constructive feedback. I'll pass this onto the Product team.

Chris,

Pass along another suggestion: When a new version of software is installed over an existing version, the "norm" is to honor as many settings as possible in the new version.

I found the new version showed each drive as a separate icon on my desktop. I have 3 devices with about 7 drives total attached to them, and my desktop was a total clutter. I finally figured out that the installer ignored my preference for ONE icon.

ALso, the default settings of "sharing" things from my Mac is wrong. I should positively assert that I want to share something, and not have Pogoplug check the "share this" box on everything so I have to uncheck things to secure my Mac.

If I want to share something, I make the decision, not the installer. Change the defaults to "nothing shared" and let users add things one at a time.

Thanks

Jeff

it is fine

nope... nothing is fine
we can not keep any resources the same each time we log on
every time any number of things are wrong and ....

we have to DO a number of fixes to TRY(not always successful) to get things stable

I just give up - 4 months of constantly fooling around with this unstable, unpredictable, and ultimately useless service

I am going back to GBridge and will be using a media server
Gbridge does everything POGOPLUG says it can do and does it without any problems....EVER

We tried POGOPLUG because my friend did not want to leave his laptop on all the time

à ¥ƏΨφюף means you are a Ďůmbăŝŝ for buying POGOPLUG
