Hello,

When I am on the 3G on my Motorola Droid phone and try to stream MP3s i get the following message "Either Android doesn't support streaming of this file OR the file has been removed from the file system". When I switch to the wifi the MP3 streaming works just fine.

Any ideas on how to solve this? I believe this is a pogoplug client issue.

Thanks,

That's odd, streaming works really well on my Droid over 3G. This sounds silly, but have you tried rebooting your phone? Also, which version of Android are you using?

Hi Schleppy,

I tried to rebbot my phone indeed. Nothing changed.

I'm running Android Version 2.2.2 right now.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Two things. Try clearing out the data and cache for the app (Home screen > Menu button > Settings > Applications > Manage Applicatons). Find Pogoplug in there, clear out the data, then re-open it and try.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the app entirely and reinstalling it.

Hi again Schleppy,

I tried both things... Neither of them worked in the 3G. I want to add that It's not a problem with firewall because I tested the streaming of files thou computers of different networks and it went well.

Anything else I could try?

Here's a long shot, but try calling *228 (option 2) to update your roaming tower info.

Do you have any odd apps installed, or anything that could be interfering with MP3 playing?

Also, how much free space do you have on your internal storage? If you're running low there is a chance it may not have enough room to cache the stream? It's another long shot...

Thanks again Schleppy.

It still doesn't work. I killed all the applications that were running. I even uninstalled one that I suspect it could be a problem... still nothing... same error message.

I tried the *288 and verizon automatic message says it was impossible to do the update (or something like that).

If it would be a cache problem it wouldn't work with WIFI... Right?

(Thank you so much for the help so far)

That is concerning that you couldn't update your phone via *228. I would contact Verizon and see what's going on.

I would also submit a ticket with Pogoplug

Another update,

I installed the client on my wife's phone (the same Motorola Droid but with different softwares installed in it).

She found out that some song were playing. But most of them have the same problem.

So I tried to play in my phone the songs she mentioned and they played as well.

Any ideas? Why some song over the 3G play and some no but in the WIFI all of them play?

Thanks...

Are you positive all the files you're playing are MP3? No WMA, FLAC, etc? Also, are they VBR encoded MP3s?

April 28, 2011 12:36 PM

I am.

There are songs within the same album that this phenomena occur (some of them play others not).

April 28, 2011 12:37 PM

Very strange. I would submit a support ticket to Pogo and include a link to this thread so they can reference it.

Let us know what happens!

April 28, 2011 12:38 PM

I am ashamed to ask... but how exactly I submit a ticket to them?

Thanks for your help!

April 28, 2011 12:40 PM

Send an email to support@pogoplug.com

No problem!

April 28, 2011 12:46 PM

Thanks a lot.

If they come back to me, I will post the solution here...

Once again thanks...

If someone else has any other idea meanwhile, I would be glad to try.

I saw this problem on my LG Optimus as well. I think there is some bug with the app and it gets confused when switching from WiFi to 3G. I have figured out a simple solution which has worked for me so far. The solution is as follow.

- Press back key and till you reach the Main Menu
- Select Movies
- Select any of the Movies you have
- The app will do a force close and restart
- Once the app restarts, you should be able to play your MP3s as usual

Please let me know if this trick works for you

Thanks hotvibes.

I figure out a solution as well.
Indeed, when you switch from WIFI to 3G I have this bug. In my case, the solution was reset my phone (in the particular case of my phone, I removed the battery - it's faster).

When it gets back, the mp3 streaming works beautifully.
