From what I've seen it should really only be making the previews, thumbnails & meta data. Although it won't show up under Media > Movies until you have let it do it's thing, you can search for it by name, or look it up via Files > drive ... and it should fire right up. It does do transcoding on the fly, and it will stream smoother the second time through, from my experience.
Could a CE representative back me up or correct me on this?

I have been working with Pogoplug tech support for some time now and am getting frustrated... or more specifically I am running out of time to return it with each passing day.
The blog announcing the pogoplug video excited me http://blog.pogoplug.com/cloud-engines-unveils-pogoplug-video-289/ "Pogoplug Video Features
• Share high-quality videos of supported formats immediately. Users no longer need to wait for complicated conversions and lengthy uploads to view and share personal content on mobile or networked devices."
I tried to stream to my phone on a recent road trip. Some movies played for a few seconds. I had the best luck with AVI files but only ever really got one movie that looked like it would have played all the way through - of course nothing I wanted to watch at the time. Tech support told me to make sure that my settings were checked to enable streaming and optomize for remote playback (which they were) but the thing is stuck transcoding videos. I just logged on and one short AVI has been transcoding for the last 19 hours. I already had a v2 Pogoplug and decided that I would not use it for streaming movies due to conversion time.
I really don't see any difference between the video pogo and the v2 pogo. Can someone enlighten me?
I have owned a PogoPlug Pink for a year or more. It has worked more or less out of the box and I have been happy with the results. The PogoPlug Pink was attached to a Drobo Hard Drive and I have left it alone for many months.
Two days ago I "upgraded" to Pogo Video. I also purchased the 30 dollar "upgrade".
After two days: My Drobo won't work; My music won't play; My videos won't stream.
I own several streaming software solutions: iSub; Subsonic; AirVideo; StreamToMe; ZumoCast and AudioGalaxy. They ALL WORK.
I have been a big supporter of PogoPlug. I have experienced NOTHING but frustration over the last two days.
I don't want tech support. I want a product that works out-of-the-box.
This product should never have been released as presently configured.
EDIT: I continue to get the same repeatable errors using both Drobo and Western Electric hard drives. Pogoplug tells me that I only have one gb of storage. Furthermore, uploading more than a file or two trashes the system and I can't add more files.
What a mess!
Streaming is still not working to my phone. I tried it with the optimize feature turned off and it was a total failure. I have had messages out to tech support and they don't even reply. It's been another week since they made any contact. I've had tickets out on this since I received my Pogoplug Video on April 7.
Is anyone successfully streaming to their phone? If so, could you share what device/operating system is actually working? I have the EVO (Android).
I can't stream videos to my Droid X either. I've been real dissapointed with the product. I happened to get it for a reasonable price so it's not really worth returning and downgrading.
They need to work on the Android Application. I heard there is suppose to be an upgrade but I haven't seen anything yet.
