I realize this is basically a cross-post of my other thread (http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/16306/What-happened-to-the-Pogoplug-d... but it would be nice to get the desktop client software back.

I really don't want to have every machine I install the software on have the option of being it's own standalone Pogoplug server. As an IT admin I just want to install the basic client package that existed a couple days ago, and connect to our exisiting Pogoplug Pro. I don't want the hassle of disabling all the new functionality.

Besides that, keep up the good work Pogopluggers!

Seconded!

I believe you might be able to get an uninstall script and the old (2.5.5) software from support. Only problem is that the old software is 32bit only...

But what about the other features that the new software allows you to do such as sharing from the desktop without the need to go to the web and the printing? I guess you are saying would like to see a version without "Remote Access"?

I don't like some of the things the new desktop does - I'm a security guy and it's fairly aggressive in what it defaults to. It also appears to violate fairly standard Windows security and application convention. Ugly.

Does anyone know if the 2.5.5 version has the speed updates from the new and latest all-in-one version?

Agreed! Keep supporting the older version.

I don't like the software and am just using the web browser interface now. Not what I wanted but makes for more piece of mind.

Thank you for the links!
I was searching for a "I just want to have a drive letter for my Pogoplug" tool.
The new version of the Pogoplug software is just doing too much stuff.

I just want a drive letter for my pogoplug.

Thanks Amiga for the downloads. I was able to see my Pogoplug as a letter. I am more comfortable with the inter face like this. I am new and a little bit Dropboxy. So this kind of makes me feel at home. But that Pogoplug Browser PC software was confusing and didn't allow much user interaction. I mean you could just use the Web and got more from that.

Thanks!!!!

I am currently overseas and the new web browser version does let me mount the drive for access. Overseas the military has slow service less than 128 k. I have version 3.1 that let me mount hte drive letter and now it wont connect to the web either. please bring back the desktop only software. Windows version 7 ultimate service pack 1

Thanks for the links, Amiga. I am now happy that I have downgraded to the old version on all my windows and mac computers. The new bloatware was frustrating.

For Mac OSX Lion users, you will need to to install this in order to get it to work (*make sure that you install the compatibility layer when presented with the option): http://osxfuse.github.com/
