I have the Pogoplug Video (PV) in my hands unopened, however, I have been seeing nothing but negative comments with regard to the PV.  That said, I would like to hear from anyone that has had a POSITIVE experience with the product.  Otherwise, I will return the product.

Cloud Engines Personnel - It would be great if you guys were transparent with users on what is and what is not working right now.  I have been very happy with your support and products up to this point.  I hope with the PV you will continue to do so.

Please note:  I am using OS X and iOS devices primarily.  Would appreciate input on experiences with these

So far, I've had pretty good experiences with the Video streaming to iPhone/iPad. Other than a short delay in loading up the video (part of that is waiting for my USB drive to spin up) I didn't have any major gripes. Quality varied based on the source, and I only had one video which streamed poorly. I think it can be codec dependent. We'll be releasing our community review soon which covers my initial experiences with it. I think for most general use, it is a pretty capable device as long as one is aware of the limitations, e.g., format support.

Peter -

Are your experiences based on the new firmware 3.0.0 update?

Many users have commented on the fan noise. Have you experienced this, as well?

If 3.0.0 is the latest update that was just released--no. I imagine that an update would improve things, but again, my experiences were fine.

There is a fan noise, but it's relatively small (in my opinion.) I think the issue for some may be that the noise isn't necessarily super loud, but the pitch of the noise can make it noticeable for some. I am surrounded by gadgets in my office, including a noisy PC with 4 fans not including the GPU fan, which is also loud, so what noise there is doesn't bother me at all ;)

I wonder hich environment pogoplug tested this device. In an office lab environment it is fine. I am using in my room which my 8 year old does his home work. It is not nice to keep it on continuously. why have a fan on such a low power consuming device? why dont they release device specs. i almost tried opening it, but planning to return as it does not work to my expetations at all
