Hi Schleppy -
the old PogPlug drive app seems to be available here:
http://www.pogoplugged.com/download/list?cat=26
Whilst PogoPlug is a great concept/product and is obviously in continual development, it can be a mite frustrating when things change significantly and us users don't get given a clear "transition path" - something that explains what's changed (and why) and how we migrate to the new facilities having got used to the existing facilities.
As I say, PogoPlug development seems to be continually on the move (which is a good thing) - it just needs to communicate upgrades/changes more clearly else the user base may generate more support questions than is needed...

I have a PogoPlug Pro at home, and I decided to give the new desktop software a shot. I think I'll stick with the Pro for now, so I uninstalled the new Pogoplug software. After I removed it noticed that I no longer had the Pogoplug drive software installed, nor could I re-download the drive software from the Pogoplug site.
Has the new software replaced the old pogoplug drive software? I hope it hasn't. I really don't want to have all the extra stuff that comes with the new software installed if I can avoid it.
Agreed. I love the direction things are heading for Pogoplug, I just wish they would talk to their users a bit more.
Edit: The link you provided doesn't work :(
After poking around the Windows software for a bit, it looks like they have combined the new Pogoplug software and Desktop software. I think it's for the better, but I wish they would have given us a bit of a heads up.
Edit: The only downside I can see is that the new software requires a few more steps to get it going, and if I want to installed the "desktop" software on machines at work, I have to go through the trouble of disabling the PC-based Pogoplug on every machine I install it on.
Now I kind of wish the Drive software was still around.
I like change!
But only when it improves something.
I don't like the new PC software so have deleted it and put the old one back on

Apologies about the link; I found that www.pogoplugged.com had the page listing it, but didn't have the chance to check it actually was still valid ;(
I've now installed the new software - not quite as smoothly as I'd hoped, but it's working now and seems to do the job. Will just take a little getting used to. Seems the web UI navigation is a little idiosyncratic in places - there seems to be a lack of consistency, sometimes there are nice clear breadcrumb nav links, other times, not ?
At the moment things seem stable - on the old Drive software I kept finding the 1TB HDD (Q:) attached to my PogoPlug (P:) kept disappearing in Windows Explorer, and when I used the PP icon to reload the drives, I ended up with the PogoPlug as R: and the HDD as S:
If the new software has made things more stable then that's good.
I get the impressio that we all feel that it would be useful to have updated user guides available when new software versions are released.
Now if Cloud Engines could make my PogoPlug accessible from my Wii console that would be good!
No worries AdmiralP, I appreciate the effort!
I started a new (somewhat similar) thread in the new forum:
http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/16310/Please-bring-back-the-desktop-o...
As someone who will have the desktop client on many machines (in an office). I really don't want to put all the extra features on every client machine. I just want them to be able to access our Pogoplug, not act as a Pogoplug themselves. Disabling the new features is an added step I don't really want.
With that being said, I like how "hidden" the new desktop software is on a Mac. No more app icon in the Dock!
I have not tried it on any PC but on my Mac it works great. I am glad the have changed it for my purposes. The old Pogoplug Drive did not work for Macs running their OS in 64 bit mode, because of the Macfuse app limitations. The new pogoplug app for mac works great in 64 bit. Mounts my drives fine and was able to set things up in minutes. I will comment later when I try it on a Windows machine.
I just installed the new software on my Windows 7 netbook and now I don't see my shares anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled it again, but still nothing.
I can acces everything by webinterface, but not by explorer anymore. Can anyone help me?

If you haven't already tried rebooting your computer I would do that. If that didn't work open up the Pogoplug software again (it's in your Control Panel now) and make sure your account info is correctly loaded in there, etc.
I rebooted several times, right clicked the tray icon and selected 'reload' and nothing happens. Also "show drives" option in the software does not do anything.
My account info is correct.
New version 3.0.1.17 is not very good.
Can't see drives from PC
They need to better test their software before releasing it.

Had the same problem on Win7. I had to:
1. Uninstall
2. Reboot
3. Install
4. Reboot
It worked.
@Alf Romeo
I performed the same steps and still nothing... The weird thing is that just now my girlfriend installed the new software on her Windows 7 laptop and she has access to the mounted drives! Strange...
I guess I'll uninstall it again, clean up all the leftovers including the registry and then try it again. That will be this afternoon, because at the moment I'm at work ;-)
I didn't get a clean install first time round. Like Alf Romeo I ended up uninstalling and revooting a couple of times.
I also did not go for an automaticreboot, but took the manual option, and before that on my Windows 7 system made sure that the PogoPlug app was given the "Run as Administrator" option.
Shall have to find some more time to explore the new set up.
Here are the old 2.5.5 archives for the desperate amongst us:
http://download.pogoplug.com/downloads/ppdrive_win32_2_5_5.msi
http://download.pogoplug.com/downloads/ppdrive_win64_2_5_5.msi
http://download.pogoplug.com/downloads/Pogoplug_OSX_2.5.5.zip
I tried the uninstall and reinstall method on Windows 7.
After doing that, the drive letter came back!
I would like for Pogoplug to still provide a desktop only version that provides access to the file and not all the other features. I have uses that connect to the share just so they have copies of the files. Forcing more features on them will confuse them and make more work for me! Ug.
Having both solutions is the way to go!
Could not be more annoyed right now.
Installed version 3.0.1 for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Can't do anything in Windows with Pogoplug now. Keep getting "network problems" and don't get an opportunity to log in.
Went back to 2.5.5. and still, "network problems" prevent me doing anything in Windows.
What I like about Pogoplug is that it just works. Now? It doesn't do that, and I'm strongly considering selling it. I'm so annoyed at Pogoplugs' selective approach to solving problems.
Hi Hash
Network problem usually means the software has issues connecting to the service. This either means the Pogoplug service is down or you have a network issue. I recommend you contact support and add all the logs.
