I'm currently looking to buy a set-top box that is compatible with pogoplug out of the box, or with vary little configuration.

What i mean by a set-top box is something like a roku box, or a apple TV.

thanks

Any set-top box or "media player" that uses the UpNp protocol will work. This is how the pogoplug works with the PS3.

The latest version of the iOS app for Pogoplug supports AirPlay and thus you can stream from the Pogoplug to an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad and then on to an Apple TV. The streaming path looks like this:

Pogoplug -> iPhone/iPod touch/iPad -> Apple TV

Thus, no need for a host PC or any other device, although you do need an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad running the latest release of iOS 4 and the video/audio has to be in an iOS-compatible format. One feature that kind of offsets the cost and other issues in using a hand-held iOS device as the intermediary is that you can use that device as a remote for the streaming process itself.

To be honest, however, it seems like AirPlay is a little unstable at this time. It may be a problem with the Pogoplug iOS app itself (since it seems to have its fair share -- or greater share -- of bugs). But, even AirPlay itself seems somewhat buggy, so I can't currently recommend the combination without reservations. However, if you already have a recent generation iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad then it may be an option worth considering since the current Apple TV at only $99 is a pretty useful device even without the Pogoplug or AirPlay.

Oh, one other thing. This works even over the internet so you can stream from the Pogoplug at home to an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad at another location and then using AirPlay direct that to an Apple TV at that second location. However, you need a pretty good internet connection to make this work (both upstream from your home and downstream at the remote location).
