Okay, so I've seen some people have success with a Western Digital TV Live and some not so much. My setup is currently a 500GB USB external HDD hooked up to my Pogoplug Pro. My WDTV Live is hooked up to my TV via HDMI. My pogoplug shows in the WDTV as a Media server and will play most files that way. The .mkv format files it will not, but I have solved that by mounting the pogoplug drive on my PC as a share and then it shows up under my PCs name as a network share.

So all file formats play fine that way. But here is my issue, The WDTV only lists the first 63 files on the pogoplug this way.Now if I go through the media server option all 142 movies I've stored on the external HDD show up, but here is my second issue. When playing videos through the Media server option it seems that the network connection times out or something after exactly 29 1/2 minutes. I can watch the same movie all the way through if i access the files through the network share from my PC but straight from the pogoplug the WDTV looses the connection.

I was hoping that I could get some insight, I like the way things are set up but its difficult to watch movies when they stop every 30 mins, or if that movie happens to be beyond the first 63 files.

I have read just recently (after monthes of struggling with the 30 minute timeout on wdtv) that it is the WDTV setting to WORKGROUP in network settings that is causing the WDTV to scan for other computers in the same workgroup. When it doesn't see anything, it stops playback from the Pogoplug. I have fixed it by making the workgroup "empty". I am using WDLXTV and did it through online settings (not from the WDTV itself)

I fought with my wdtv for a while. Ended up installing samba on the pogo with help from a member. Search some of my old posts.

I looked in to the wdlxtv webend interface and I couldn't find where to change the workgroup to "EMPTY " or any name for that matter I even looked through the system. Conf. File and didn't find anything. So I have two questions ,1. Where do I find the place within the wdlxtv webend to change the name of the workgroup. #2 do I change the workgroup name to the word "EMPTY" or "" meaning leave blank.

It's been a while and I've probably should of updated the previous post. It resorted to it's old ways of stopping every 30 minutes. But I logged in to the ip address on my network using the laptop and editted the file using the online interface of WDLXTV.

Yes I understand how to log in to the webend. Once I'm in the webend I can't find the place where you would change the workgroup name. My question was not "How do I log into the wdlxtv webend?" my question was "Where within the wdlxtv webend would I find the place to change the work group name?"

in WDLXTV configuration (it is the first tab); Scroll down to "File Sharing: Window File Sharing" fourth line down is "Samba Workgroup"

Is there a link to a tutorial for doing all this? I have the Wd tv live plus and my pogoplug series 4 hasnt arrived yet.

You said you have the pogo 4 let me know how it works out with the wdtv I'm considering getting one if it does in fact work with the wdtv without any time out issues. Also if you have an android device let me know if music streaming is any better with the pogo 4. When I stream music on my pogo pro 50% of the time music plays fine on 3g connection half of time it cuts in and out of playing. I just want to know if the pogo 4 is any better.

I have had my pogoplug for a couple of weeks now and can tell you it definatly does not work. You can see all the files but you are unable to play any MKVs and all of the files that I did try to play would cut off at exactly 27 minutes. From the responses I received from both companies neither has any interest in fixing the problem. I am also experiencing slow download upload speeds but I have an older non gigabit n router so I will wait before i fully pass judgement. I justread that linksys just released a new gigabit router with a USB 3.0 port. You may be better off going with that dispite the higher cost.

I also been having the problem of file getting lost for no reason and drive being converted to read only.
