I'm in the same boat. Have you noticed if you are getting a good IP address on your pogoplug?
Categories: Other Pogoplug Enabled Devices
I'm no longer able to use samba on my Dockstar. I've got Windows File Sharing enabled and use the correct workgroup. The Dockstar shows up on my network as FADS1A86xx, but whenever I try to access it, I'm told 'the device does not accept the connection'. It's the same on my WD TV Live, Windows 7 pc and Apple laptop. I've tried resetting the Dockstar, used different hard disk, installed a different router and deleted the ceid-file. Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? (please help :( )
You're right, I'm not getting a good IP address. The IP address should be something like 192.168.1.199. Right now it's 169.254.134.119.
I've tried a method described bij DarkNight here:
http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/14549/Dockstar-problem-with-D-Link-DG...
"In your router settings: Go Basic -> Network Settings; Look towards the bottom with "DHCP Reservations List" & "Add DHCP Reservation". Copy the MAC address into the proper field. Assign it an IP address not already in the DHCP list, but within the range of 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.255, type a name, check "Enabled" then click save. Reboot your router if needed and/or unplug and replug your P/P's network cable to restart the DHCP process."
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. The Dockstar keeps getting 169.254.134.119.
Yep, that's what the MyPogoplug website says, but I looked in my router and it says that it's got an IP address.
I'm going to try this tonight: http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/11966/Static-IP/?highlight=static+ip

I've tried using SSH, but don't know how these commands work.
Using /sbin/ifconfig gave me the following:

Have you tried going to \\192.168.1.190 ? that's the ip address in that first ethernet configuration block.
192.168.1.190 is the static ip address I gave the Dockstar in my routers settings. The Dockstar however keeps using 169.254.134.119.
Using 192.168.1.190 in Firefox, doesn't seem to do anything :(
I've sent an e-mail to support@pogoplug.com. Hopefully they know what's going on.
I don't know what you are using to connect, but I don't think firefox would work. on a PC you could go to run and type in \\192.168.1.190 on your MAC you could go to connect to server and do smb://192.168.1.190 The pogoplug devices do not work using http.
Just an FYI I fixed my problem last night. The Pogoplug must have rebooted and got a different ip address. That was my only problem.
I'm glad yours was fixed. That must mean there's hope for mine :)
I've tried using smb://192.168.1.190, but it didn't work.
This is the response I got from support:
"The incorrect IP is a known bug for which Pogoplug Engineering has submitted a fix but has not been implemented in any Dockstar or GoFlex Net firmware. This is awaiting approval from Seagate, the firmware version with this fix must be post 2.5.9.
The WFS feature is very straightforward.
Reading through your fixes, I see you even tried to delete .ceid.
My only suggestion is to disable the feature, attach a different USB drive, and try enabling the feature with the new drive.
If there is a file system inconsistency on the attached drive, WFS will fail. The fix for this is disk maintenance using Repair Disk or Disk Utility.
If none of this works, please contact Seagate support at http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/about/contact_us
As this is a Seagate only feature, their Support team is best able to help you."
My Dockstar has firmware version 2.5.6. I'll try using a different hard disk again.
This is what I was warning Tizzo about depending on the samba that came with dockstar http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/15812/Optware-problems-on-Pogoplug-Pr... .
