There are two 4-port Pogoplug devices being sold, one is P500-1000 and the other is P500-1000T

Does anyone know what the difference is? I'd like to know, and others might want to know as well.

At Tiger Direct, they have two Pogoplug pink devices, same description, same number of USB ports.

The one for $79.99 is the POGO-E02 and is also labeled P500-1000 T
The one for $89.95 is the P500-1000 and is discounted by 45.02 for a total price of $44.97

There is no information about what is different.

The tech support person at Tiger Direct had no idea, could not find a difference, and after about 20 minutes he concludes they came from different distributors, but appear to be identical otherwise.

Use google to search for "pogoplug tigerdirect" and you'll end up on the page with the discounted pogoplug device. At least while they last, you can get a 4-port pogoplug device for about $45.

Strange, eh?

Those part numbers sound like Tigerdirect's own database system problem. Strange, no. It is not unusual for resellers to confuse products based on their aquisition location and pricing.
It does confuse the buyers though.

Buy the cheaper one because they are both the same product. Maybe TigerDirect is trying to create two different part numbers in the hope that someone will overpay for the same product?

Brandon,

The two prices might be right out of a profit maximization lecture in an economics class. A form of "sliding down the demand curve" - or a "giffen good" -- where quality is estimated based on price.

I was guessing that the -T meant "Made in Taiwan" and the lack of the T meant, made, well, NOT made in Taiwan <<grin>>
