I have been trying to stream videos from the new web interface on mypogoplug.com but have found none of them play anymore. They will play using the desktop app. I can also download them and play them using WMP11.

My Music and Photos all appear to work ok too. Does anyone have any ideas? Please don't tell me I have to rescan and await conversion again. It's like the video player on the mypogoplug website isnt working as all the thumnails from the videos appear but when clicked on they just open up as a picture.

I can attest to that. the new interface sucks. Nothing works anymore, or more accurately, the 1 feature I wanted in it was to stream media. It used to work, now it does not anymore. I can't stream / view any video from pogoplug into the iPad.
Also, everything wants to go thru my internet line (my.pogoplug.com does not translate it into a local IP address which is the 192.168.x.x variety)

Please fix it. otherwise it's a brick.

Yes, under Mac OS X and with the latest Safari and Chrome browsers everything goes though the internet instead of over the local connection. This is a definite change from the previous version of the my.pogoplug.com website. However, Firefox seems to resolve the local IP and thus with both Firefox 3.X and 4.0 the transfers happen over the local network.

Coldfish : I can attest to that. Something has definitely changed in the way the URL is translated. Under Chrome, it goes thru internet. Under Firefox it's translated to local IP, Internet Explorer also translate it properly.

On The Ipad, I've been using Buzz Player HD to stream the movies w/ great success using this "feature" and I've been a happy camper. The new update has definitely caused issues and not it does not work anymore.

Please fix it such that the old behaviour is restored. This is now considered a brick to me. Sigh...

On my macbook, ive tried with chrome 11, chrome 10, firefox 4 and Safari on my local network and it still goes through the internet!

Firefox 4 wont even use the HTML5 video feature

and...

as with the previous web interface cloud engines has decided to take the genious move of putting buttons over the top of the pause/play buttons, very annoying when i want to pause and click on some other video!

Did someone already make an support ticket for this?

Finally after days, my PP is finished with media processing.

i try to play my video's, nuh-uh! nothing happens..

*sighs* ...

Tried it with the browsers.. (IE8, Mozille FF 4)

@RandyJC Yes, I've raised the issue with Support. Was told at first to try clearing cache but its happening on four different pc's. I have on a couple of occasions been able to get videos to play, but usually find the only type it will play will be .MOV files. Also been having problems streaming through Android app today. I'm awaiting a further resonse. Will report back.

Today I tried on my work to access my PP Pro but it kept saying, loading when i try to browse through my folders/files.

Anyhow, im very curious about the respond you will be getting!

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date!

With the new interface hovering over video thumbnails dosn't get them to play. And the VIDOES DON'T PLAY AT ALL FOR SHARED USERS!

What is going on? Is there a quick fix in the work?

I've also raised one. http://support.pogoplug.com/tickets/31019

MayB the option turned off, because the new version of Pogoplug Video is comming?
So only the standard .MOV and MP4 are only supported now.. and DiVX and Xvid etc.. is supported by Pogoplug Video

I also have a problem with the new video interface (web UI 3.0.0). MP4 videos play correctly but AVI videos do not play only showing a picture. (PC OS Linux Mint using firefox 3.0.17)

However, those videos that do play seem an improvement on the previous web app.

I don't think the pogoplug web interface ever played avi files as the avi file is not designed for streaming as mp4 and other video files are.

Thanks, mystery solved! Just checked this out on the new web UI following comments in this thread..

Everything has just slowed down for me, takes about 2 mins to view a 998k jpg and forget about streaming my video files anymore. On my IPhone I just get "Connection Time Out" error.

Up until the update everything worked great!

I've returned the PP Pro, and buyed myself an Synology DS111j.

There were 2 many things i bumped into.

I am having the same issue with no streaming via web interface. One file does stream but no video just audio. I hope it gets fixed soon or revert it back until it is fixed. My windows client is still working but I have not updated anything there. I also notice I do not seem to have the option to optimize a single video like I used to and my android ap claims it will optimize but seems to do nothing. The queues show no more pending files.

After a week of unuseble service, I've now returned my pogoplug for a refund. It was a great bit of kit before the 'upgrades' but now left with something that doesn't do what it's supposed to. Very poor customer service, slow and the only solution was to clear the web cache (even though it happens on all computers and IPhone). Support ticket closed even though the problem still exsists!

It would have been nice to have an email to keep us informed of upcoming upgrades or degraded service issues. All seems a bit amateurish.

Now gone for a Netgear ReadyNas Duo

I don't see why people have a problem with pogoplug support, I created a support ticket, and contacted them via Twitter I was asked to email them at a special email address with a full explanation and screenshots, I did this and the following day I logged on to my.pogoplug and my problems were fixed, streaming works and they even moved the selection ribbon thing. Now the new interface works on LAN and is easier to use. I think the customer service I recieved was fantastic and the new UI is great (now
it works)

Also for people having problems streaming avi files you should try re-encoding them using handbrake, with web-optimised checked, if you want to stream files over the Internet rather than LAN you should encode with a constant bitrate of around 200kbps below your Internet upload speed, this works fantastic for me as I stream from home to university :)

April 13, 2011 2:10 PM

@jonathanbrett It's all well and good re-encoding using an external piece of software, but it shouldn't be neccesary. It streamed ALL my video files perfectly well before the new UI was released, so it should be down to Cloud Engines and Pogoplug Support to get it sorted out. I have had a couple of replies from my original support ticket but have heard nothing in nearly a week. The last thing I was asked to do was to share a few files with them as they believed there was a bug in the system. You appear to have been lucky.

April 29, 2011 1:46 PM

Just had this reply to my ticket. At least they've finally admitted there was a problem with the New UI....I hope!

Hello Robert,

I have just been informed that the fix for the .AVI files includes the fix for the .MPG files either.
This fix is expected to be released (the my.pogoplug.com website will be updated) during next week.

I am closing this ticket but feel free to contact Pogoplug in the future.

An update on this issue. I did eventually manage to get my videos to play after setting the optimize to play to ALWAYS. I am now however still unable to stream any shared videos. Gordon at support has advised me to detach the pplug, remove the cedata file and then let the pogoplug reencode all my videos again. I will hopefully do this next week.
I thought my problems were coming to an end. However, the web interface has been updated again and I am now unable to stream, download or share any music. I am just about ready to throw this thing in the bin!!! The only thing that works properly is the Android App!!
