I have the same question. I can't find how/where on the system to accomplish this exact task. I would like to assign permissions/areas to each user within my household. At the very minimum, disable access to certain areas (not proper content for example based on age of kids).
Hi,
I've ordered a Pogoplug Pro but I'm still stuck on this question:
- Is it possible to have different people within the same local network (household) have different permissions?
I'm asking this because I want my kids to not be able to access every file / disk or be able to delete important data.
I know the sharing options for other people outside the network, but it looked like everyone on the same network can acces all data.
Can someone clarify?
Thanks
One way to accomplish this could be (if the firmware allowed it) to have permissions ability based on folder. If a family member tries to access the network drive (mapped drive) then it's visible, but the folders are restricted based on password. As of now, as far as I've been able to tell, they're wide open for anyone to see, as long as they're part of the local network.
Did pogo ever address this issue? I have the same problem b/c I've set my device up at my office b/c of the higher upload speeds. Everyone at work can technically see my data if they knew it was there.
Would love a way to lock it down.
They would have to have been granted access via my.pogoplug.com or have your username/password, to upload/delete, but the way UPnP works... you're stuck.
