So, before the beta, I had active copy set up from my desktop to my external drive on my pogoplug using the desktop software. I assume to do the same thing now I use the beta web interface, and set up active copy from my desktop- which is now shared- to my pogoplug drive.

I set up a copy for My Music. It's supposed to active copy from my My Music on my Desktop, to the Music folder on my Pogoplug drive, same as it used to with the desktop software. It tells me the sync is up to date... but it's not. there are entire folders missing on the external drive that should be under my music. Is this a problem with the beta? If it is I need to uninstall, having a working active copy is essential for me as that's how I do my backups. But I would like to get it working. :) Is there a way to force it to update or something?

I've seen several reports here of Active Copy exhibiting some strange behaviors in the beta, and I also know the folks at Pogoplug are well aware of these. I've had some wonky things happen myself. I'm hoping to see fixes in the next update.

Well.. I guess I'm glad it's not just me. Access-wise it's not an issue, if it's not on the pogoplug drive I can now access it directly from my computer. But I've been having issues with the computer freezing (before the beta, I think bad memory maybe) so if that happens I'm SOL. Also since active copy was the only way I was backing up files, that could be a problem too. May need to uninstall the beta, too bad.

I have the same exact problem here. Says up to date but not true. Hope to see this fixed soon.

Add me to this list. Last night I created a new folder in my video folder and a new folder in my pictures folder. The video folder copied to my pogoplug drive - the picture folder did not. All of my Active Sync jobs are showing as "up to date".

Also, it takes way too long for new files/folders to actually be copied.

I was reading through the other forums, there are some suggestions for backup software to use. I think I might keep the beta for now, and try that. I have had occassional problems with the external drive attached to the plug disappearing, so I *do* like the beta in that it's been much more stable as far as being available when I actually need to access files. I'll post back here if I find a good option for backups.

Concerning alternative software to perform the active copy, for Mac there is a software that does just that, called "Folder Watch", available in the Mac app store. Very affordable. I did not try it specifically for the pogoplug drive, but use it for a NAS disk I have. Works beautifully. Was starting considering to use that to replace the beta active copy until it is fixed.

So....are u using this program now? does it work? cuz i was trying to use another one called synk pretty similar to the one you are describing, but this one has problems to find the file....somehting with that root allowance from MacFuse...

Does this one works without that limitations?

Actuve Sync just keeps getting worse at the moment. Now, all but one of my syncs have disappeared, and when I try to re-establish them I git an error message.

Gerardo I still did not have a chance to try this directly on the pogo disk. I think it should work, it works with all sorts of disks as long as they are mounted on my desktop. I believe it is a 5$ purchase or so on the mac app store, you could try it and should it give problems you would still have a great utility for your mac.
I have a toni**plug (self censorship :)) in addition to the pogoplug. This device does not have an active copy system and the folderwatch is working great to keep in sync with the disk attached to this plug.
As soon as I have some time to try it on the pogo I will post again, sorry I can't do it right now.

Hi Ackab... I just tried the program... and well my conclusions are...

the program works.. but i dont like that i have to have the icon in the dock active to being working...pretty similar to the pogoplug 2.5.5 actual version for mac.

plus...it doesnt autodetect when the pogoplug is conected...for example...if i close pogoplug drive, and then i reload it again to mount it, the program doesnt know it, so i have to go to the program to reload the sync in order to search again.

the second problem is.... if i allow to start at login but some times, the program starts before pogoplug, so the program doesnt find the folder to sync.

For me the best option was like i said, the program named SYNK, it autodetects when is mounted, when is not, etc. the problem with it is that works with the root so macfuse denies to let it work....

today was released a new version of the pogoplug. lets hope things get better.

cheers.

Dear Gerardo thanks for this great info :)

I am not familiar with SYNK and macfuse, will look into that.

How long is taking the active sync (when it works) to update...

Ive been checking and is aproximatelly every 100 seconds to update the folders.
