I dont get it either. I've had the PP for several years now. It used to work (kinda) as far as sharing videos with friends but everytime they "upgrade" features, it seems to kill something else. I too can no longer share videos for friends to stream. I can mail a link but when they click on "view now", they get a 'crossed out play icon' across the initial still frame. Ive encoded both with handbrake and the PP's own transcoding. Very frustrating. Pogoplug is a great concept but has failed in its execution- just not reliable enough to use (especially to share stuff with non-techie friends and family). I will probably post this to support, but I think I just about give up with these guys. Will switch to free cloud based service like skydrive from MS.
Ok im fairly new to the pogo plug and there is one thing happening that really bothers me. Guest accounts cant play the video files that I have shared. Videos play fine for me but nobody that I share them with are able to stream them. The file just keeps saying loading on the screen. At first I thought they either didn't have fast enough internet or cpu but I eliminated this theory by creating another e-mail and then inviting myself. Using the same computer (new macbook pro) and internet (12 meg download) I logged on using my owner account and was able to play any video file I wanted with it only taking 5-10 seconds to load. Then I logged on using my guest account and no matter what video file I tried it wouldn't stream. Just sat there saying loading. Doesn't make any sense to me. Is there a setting that I am missing I tried changing the "view/download" option to "full access" but it didn't seem to make any difference. I don't even know what this option even does. If anyone could help me with this it would be great. The pogoplug works great for me but its a pain for my friends that have to download everything that they would like to watch. BTW I encode the movies using handbrake. M4V. format. Web optimized button checked. Etc.
