It already does. You have described the setup that my brother and I are using. We each bought a PogoPlug and the same hard drive. I backed up my stuff (220GB) and he backed up his and then we traded drives. We each also bought a drive for use at home. So now we each have a drive off site with backups on it, and each have a drive on site.
To make this a true cloud service i would like to use this as a back up solution for my pictures etc...
For this to be truly a back up i would like to use multiple locations. For example put one pogoplug at my parents house, one in my apartment and one in my gfs parents house.
This would mean that all my data would be stored in three different physical locations but would also means some potential troubles when one of these locations goes offline etc.
Is there any plans of supporting this kind of personal cloud?
Are both pogoplug devices on the same account (e-mail) or different accounts?
Both plugs use the same account (our last name), with two registered email addresses that share the same password. This means that we can see each others files. The two plugs have separate names -- the name of the town that we each live in.
When either of us logs in we see all four drives. We just have to respect the ownership of the drives.
I have also shared folders on my local drive to my wife, another brother, and a friend. They only get to see the folder that is shared with them and they must log in with a different account associated with the email address that I used to share the folders.

Alex,
Isn't the account the e-mail address? Last name and password are information about the account I think but the actual registered owner is a unique e-mail address. Two in your case, one for each device.
I have two devices on my own e-mail address, and now that they're registered, I want to take one to another address, plug it in, and access my data on that device remotely, not bothering the owner of that other location, just borrowing some bandwidth for my personal cloud.
I haven't tried it yet, but I wonder if the pogoplug service will allow different IP addresses for devices registered to a single e-mail address.
I have two locations, pogoplug devices at both, same user same password, and everything shows up just fine.
I'm confused as usual. I have a second Pogoplug and hard drive, which I tried to install at a different location in a different state. I tried to use the same e-mail address as my first Pogoplug, and was going to use a different password. I was told that e-mail address was in use and I needed a different one. So, I set it up with another e-mail address but now can't figure out how to log in to both clouds on the same computer at the same time. I would like to have both clouds appear in my drive list so I can drag and drop between them. Any idea how I can do that?
Thanks
I have two pogoplug locations, using the same login credentials (e-mail AND password)
You could create a completely separate account for the other location, OR use the same e-mail and password which would simplify access to both locations at the same time.
If you use a different set of credentials (e-mail/password) for the second drive, you'd have to give permission to the first e-mail for read/write access.
You can do both, and remove a drive from your account and add it to a second set of credentials, but why not just put both drives into one group (both belonging to your main e-mail/password).
Jeff
I grabbed an image from the settings page, put it on one of my pogoplug devices, created a public link for it, and stuffed it into the next message.
The following shows 3 pogoplug devices (two Goflexnet and 1 pogoplug pink) plus my MacbookPro -- the pogoplug devices are at different locations but all under the same credentials (E-mail + password).

Thanks, but I am still confused. Are all the drives you mention associated with the same Pogoplug? How is the Macbook Pro connected? Is it physically connected to your Pogoplug or is it somehow connected through the Internet?
I have two separate Pogoplugs in different states, and each has a different hard drive associated with only one Pogoplug. When I set up the second Pogoplug I initially tried to use the same e-mail address as the first one. I was told that e-mail address was already being used. I figured I could use the same e-mail address, but with a different password.
Thanks

Soup,
The devices are separate devices. I have two (2) Seagate GoflexNet devices, and 1 Pogoplug pink device. Each device has drives attached. ALL are on the same ACCOUNT (e-mail address and password).
The MacBook Pro is running the latest PoGoplug software, and it can be included as one of my pogoplug devices (or excluded) by changing a setting. It is NOT connected to any other device, it is just a normal Apple Laptop running the Pogoplug software that supports turning a computer into a pogoplug device.
You tried to use the same e-mail address with a different password, and that would NOT work. Your account is made up of (1) e-mail address, and (2) password. I think your confusion is that you believe the e-mail address defines your account, but it is BOTH the e-mail address AND the password. Clearly if you try to login with a different password, it will reject your credentials, and PogoPlug would not be obliged to explain what that fails (it's a security issue).
Just use the same e-mail address and same password, that IS your account.

Hi Jeff, I'll try to dismount my new drive and go through the set up again. I'll let you know if it worked.
The term "Eject" is to remove a drive from a device before unplugging the drive.
The term "Unregister" is used to remove a device from your account.
Be sure to use the right procedure and term when describing what you plan to do, to describe what you actually are doing.
To unregister, you have to eject the attached drives first, then unregister the device itself if that's the plan.
Digging up an old thread... I understand that you can have multiple PP devices under the same account, however what if I wanted the 2nd PP to automatically backup? Basically is there way to have a 2nd PP mirror a host device (master/slave)?
I think that you are talking about having Active Copy have a source on one PP drive and the target on another -- then yes.
ummm... I don't totally understand what your saying.. but what I'm looking at doing is like what the above poster did w/ his brother. Except I'd like to have a 2nd PP mirror my current PP, and in the event I lost my main PP the other would run as backup from a different location. I don't think the current software allows this however.
As was said in earlier posts, you can have multiple pogos using the same email and passwords. Set them up in one location, then you can move them to any location with internet access. Then you set them up with active copy to have a local and offsite backup. It works I have 3 in at least 3 different houses. You might be able to setup more from different locations but it has to be on your local lan when you first activate each pogo.
