I have those as well, and they show up because I have my folder options set to show hidden files.
Turn off Hidden File viewing and you won't see them any more.
Tried Beta briefly, but reverted back to 2.5.5 when Beta installed what appears to be a configuration folder along with 2 different configuration files directly on my Desktop which could not be removed because they are actively used/needed by PogoPlug. I temporarily deactivated PogoPlug Beta and was able to remove the errant files on my Desktop, but PogoPlug insisted on putting them back as soon as I would start it backup.
PogoPlug 2.5.5 runs fine with no additional application induced Desktop "clutter" so reverted back to it. I am intrigued by several of the new features introduced in the Beta and would be interested in any solutions to the Desktop clutter. Is there any registry setting that could be altered to change where PogoPlug wants to put these files? Have any other Beta users seen these Desktop based configuration files? I assume everyone realizes that correct Windows programming practices/standards frowns on an application putting configuration "stuff" on a user's personal desktop. I believe the correct location for this kind of configuration information is in the users' "appdata' area instead. The most that any application should be permitted to place on a user's desktop is an optional application shortcut, which I promptly either delete or move to my quicklaunch bar because I like to keep a clean/tidy desktop :-)!
I'm running Windows Vista 32bit on a Sony Vaio laptop

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, that would hide the annoying desktop files/folders, but that would be allowing a novice programmer from learning from their mistakes. No application should EVER place anything other than an optional shortcut on a user's desktop. I view one of the primary purposes of this Beta program to be the identification and correction of bugs exactly like this. Hopefully the PogoPlug software development community will notice and correct this deficiency :-)!
