I had posted this earlier but it got moved to the Linux forum. This for the new desktop beta, please don't move it again. The beta requires Windows or Mac for the client that runs in the backgorund that does all the sharing & indexing. I know you created a Linux client for accessing all the files on Pogoplug devices. What I was wondering is will there be a version of this new desktop beta that will run in Linux that will share on my files in Linux & not necssarily any files stored on a Pogoplug device? I don't want to run Windows on my desktop to share my files. It would be nice to be able to run Linux instead. Thanks in advance for the reply.

@AzBat360, there will not be a Linux version of the new Pogoplug SW at this time.

I am tempted to ask why not?

Sorry to hear there will not be a Linux version. Installed tonight on windows 7 and works perfectly. Droid and iPad connect fine. I dual boot Linux/windows being in Linux 99.9 % of the time. Windows only if I can not get around it other wise. Wish I could have this and Linux together. It would be perfect.

Seems to work fine on Windows, but I would never leave a windows box running 24/7 like I would a Linux server. Linux please.

sorry to hear. that's a deal breaker for me as i have 4 Linux machines, only 1 windows and 4 android devices.

Count me in for wanting a native Linux version. I have a nice home router/file server with a terabyte drive, so I haven't bought a pogoplug yet because I didn't want to buy an external drive just for it and have it inaccessible to my existing file server. I would be happy to buy a pogoplug to use the service, I just don't want to use the actual pogoplug. Until I heard about the beta program I was waiting to have some time to work on a project to get pogopug running in some sort of a vm. Now it looks like it might be easier to wait on this beta to mature and then run a headless winblows vm on my router. Seems kind of silly but oh well.

OH, and even though a Linux version is never going to happen, I vote for a headless back end with a web front end. If you insist on a thick application then QT is the way to go because it is cross platform.

I wish there was better Linux support here. Dropbox was so much friendlier.

Yeah, this is unfortunate. I purchased the software without realizing that the provided Linux client was somewhat neutered. At home, the desktops are all Mac OS, but the server running my NAS is Debian.

I was hoping to buy an actual pogoplug, but it doesn't seem to have the ability to share out network drives, so I purchased the software instead, thinking the linux version would be similar to the Mac and Windows desktop. What a shame that it isn't!

What would it take to change this?
