@Alex, are you saying that you lost your Internet connection after installing Pogoplug, or were you still able to browse the Internet?
Do you have SP1 installed? Also, do you have any antivirus or firewall software installed on your machine?
I am running Windows 7 64bit. I registered for the Beta, downloaded and installed the software, and rebooted. When I logged onto my account I got a message that PogoPlug was unable to connect to the internet. I tried launching the app shortcut, opening the control panel, and opening the prefs on the taskbar entry. All give the same error unable to connect.
Of note, when I logged back in after the reboot my network meter gadget no longer showed my ethernet connection, but the new pogoplug driver. I had to switch it. I am guessing that the network driver is not behaving.
I do have SP1 installed.
I never lost internet connectivity, but some of my settings were altered.
I am running MS Security Essentials and the regular MS firewall -- which I allowed Pogo full access with.
I am at work, so can't give the full details: I uninstalled the Premium Service app and reinstalled the plain app and then checked the event viewer logs -- there was an error/warning about being unable to start a DCEmanager (??) something.
Also, as stated before, the uninstall left the new XCETAP0 adapter in place (unloaded).
Due to a project due at work, I won't be able to try again until at least Friday evening.
Okay.
After reading some of the other postings I gave it another try. I uninstalled the regular app and then installed the beta app. This time it worked. Was able to put in the beta code and log in. My drive immediately began thrashing and I logged into the web site and turned off all processing. I simplified it down to one specific folder shared "PogoCloudFolder" did an upload from my work computer (via remote desktop) and a download from another.
Same problem here. Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. When I try to open the Preferences for the first time I get an elevation request and then I get "Pogoplug cannot connect to the network." The app added itself to the Firewall automatically, and I added the PPPref.exe to the firewall manually -- no dice. I've got the Windows Firewall, the MS Security app, and Avast! antivirus installed.
[Edited to add: Problem persists after reboot.]
Any ideas?
Similar issues here as well. Windows 7 64 bit/SP1.
Original install ended up with the "can not connect to network issue" but that went away after a reboot. However I then ran into the problem of not being able to share any folders. In the PogoPlug software preferences/Web Access - all the folders listed were greyed out as was the add folder button, Also, there was no "share to Pogoplug" entry on the right-click properties for any drive/folder.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled the beta software but on the second install my beta licence was denied as already in use.
Hope you can resolve these issues soon.
I installed the software on XP Media center PC. Rebooted and got the error, "can't connect to network" I tried rebooting again, same problem. I noticed an additional network device had been installed with the XCETAP0 Adapter and remembered that during the install a popup came up about that device driver not being Windows certified. The new adapter was enabled but listed as no network cable.
I reran the installer (I did NOT uninstall) and this time it removed and re-added the network device and it connected.
I had a similar problem with the Beta. My computer went crazy. CPU went to 100% usage and I couldn't do anything. Are we suppose to uninstall the original software? I restored my computer back a couple of days to the old software and it is ok. I won't put it back in until I get an answer.
@idiottoad, the 100% usage is due to the application indexing the files on folders that have been added as Remote Access shares. We are now looking to address the 100% usage issue, but note that as soon as everything finishes indexing, the app will not consume so much CPU.
Thanks, I will wait a few days and try it again. Will I have a lic issue?
Just noticed your name. Coincidence, I think not.
I am having the same issue with unable to connect to the internet. I first tried installing it on my ftp server which is running win 2k8 r2, but that didn't work.. So I installed it on a windows 7 computer and got the same error. I have opened up all the ports in my firewall (A Microsoft TMG firewall), but still not dice. I can see in my firewall log that it successfully connects to pogoplug on port 80, but after that nothing happens. Tried rebooting and so on, any clues?
Having the same problem. Windows 7 64-bit. I can't believe I bothered to upgrade it was working fine with the old version. *sigh*
Uninstalled and re-installed the old version. Now it's stuck on scan media and will not let me click anything. Yay more bugs.
I installed the pogoplug software and went to web acces but nothing appears but:
Your Pogoplug software is currently unavailable.
Please check that remote access is enabled in the Remote Access tab of your Pogoplug software.
Remote access is enabled.
Any clues? I am using Win 7 64 bits.
@Raul,
Do you also have folders added for remote access? Are you getting any error messages from the software?
Also, can you verify that when you open Task Manager, hbplug is running in the Processes tab?
-Nick
Yes, I added some folders. I did not get any error messages from the softwate but from web access.
Yes, hbplug.exe is running.
I am using Win 7 64 bits. (When I installed on a Win 7 32 bits pc all worked ok.)
@Raul,

Can I run Oxygen and PogoPlug at the same time? I'm getting the same can't connect to the internet error, but I'm not having any problems connecting to the internet in other apps and browsers.
