I use handbrake to encode all of my videos. The most important thing is to make sure the the "web optimized" box is checked before you encode each video. This allows it to be streamed via the pogoplug web browser. As far as choppiness goes, it is most likely a problem with your computer (lack of cpu power) or a slow internet connection. Encoding on the pogoplug itself takes way to long in my opinion (between 3 - 5 minutes per min of video) Any other questions?
I've got a Pogoplug and so far I'm very happy with it.
But, the one thing I could use some help with is understanding what I need to do to playback my video files.
My video files are HD mpeg files that were recorded from TV.
I know that they need to be converted to h.264 so that the Pogoplug can play them back.
I'm wondering what the best way to go about that would be.
On one hand, I could just let the Pogoplug do the conversion, but I'm concerned about how much space this would take up on my hard drive.
On the other hand, I have installed Handbrake and converted a file myself. The resulting file is a lot smaller. I have set the Pogoplug to: ENABLE file streaming, NEVER optimize for playback, create meta-data ASAP, and generate thumbnails ASAP.
I copied my h.264 file to the drive attached to my Pogoplug, but two things are happening. First, when I play through my.pogoplug.com, the playback is very, very choppy.
When I try to playback thru my HTC EVO phone, I get a message telling me that it cannot playback the video.
How can I fix these issues? Are there optimum settings for creating the h.264 files with Handbrake? Am I better off just letting the Pogoplug handle the conversion?
Please help!
